Yeah not sure. Don't know who else is putting their hand up. Klemmer and DSaifiti if he stays injury free. Murray and Jake's form hasn't been stellar either as far as middies go.

Haas to be in the mix surely, especially if there's injuries.

I'm almost certain he is just speculating. Of course, it is a chance he doesn't return.

That said, if he didn't have every intention of being back for round 20, he wouldn't of waited until this Friday to leave the bubble, when he is officially allowed to. He would have been gone already.

He will play the Cowboys game imo. He won't want to let his teammates down, and his family will want him to go out and play the last game at Suncorp, in front of fans and family.

Those four are incumbents off the back of two series wins in a row, so you'd think NSW give them first opportunity in game 1.

Haas has done it tough for the Broncos this year, but I don't think he's done enough to be picked in the 17. You'd have him in the squad though.

Depth is probably going to be a big factor, 3 origins in the space of 14 days. QLD are in big trouble (if we aren't already) if Papalii and Arrow go down, and they're already carrying injuries.

While we are on the subject of origin I put my "squads" together. Queensland forwards are deeper than I expected, but a few backs injuries and they are in trouble

Yea the backs is certainly a worry looking at that!

Do you actually see Napa or JWal getting back in? Neither has been all that impressive for a while. Suppose it's a question of who else then

JWal has been performing well since he got the starting spot and Napa is the exact same player he was at the Roosters, he just doesn't get any love because he plays for the Bulldogs. He isn't the type of prop to carry the team, but is a very good 3rd or 4th middle

    Classic Lone Scout

Q: Four trades left. $520k in bank. Missing Teddy, Haas, Pap, Talau. Only have KP, HTF and Lomax left in back 3, have Niu and Best (in hopes he’d return this week) on bench. What to do?

First, see the answer above – decide whether you need to trade based on whether you've got a tough head-to-head match-up or if you're playing for overall points.

I feel that one might be an easy decision.

Napa is like Gagai, generally plays better for QLD than his club team. He could easily get a spot.

Haas won't be required for 60+ minute stints for NSW, so what else does he offer other than slightly suspect ruck defence

In fairness to Lone Scout there, i think he is trying to answer the generic "Do I need to trade?" question for all readers, rather than the specific situation he is replying to.

The thing is, he wouldn't send him a fucking question if he didn't need to trade. Good Lord.

He'll be in the 27 man squad for sure, but he's not going to be a staple part of the team that will play every game

The only explanation I can think of to not trade ONLY is if you can carry unused trades into next season!? lol!

I would chuck in for QLD

    Mulitalo - Sharks
    Mahoney - Eels
Capewell - Panthers (can fill a centre spot)

Mully would offer aerial height and speed on a wing. Plus is a decent defender.
Mahoney just to throw in for depth choice at hooker
Capewell can do a pretty good job filling a centre spot
