I was wondering about this.
In game 1, Qld got NSW with width... despite their best efforts to fuck it up with high or behind passes all the time. I think it worked because Munster has a rare ability to create space from a standing start or broken play, so they could recover from the loss of momentum. But in game 2 with Munster HIA and NSW expecting the shifts, it was awful.
I don’t know why Friend was so bad, the Roosters attack is normally pretty slick and I’m sure Keary stands a few metres away too.
IMO, the best dummy half for firing quick, accurate long ball in the NRL is a QLD-er... but it’s Reed Mahoney and he’s not in your squad.
Decent shout there but Reed to me seems like he goes to hard and would get gassed in a big game like that. I see Friend take these little stabs out of dummy and think if it was Grant he probably beats that tackle and makes an extra 5 metres or gives another half chance somewhere.... also I found whenever a forward made more than 8 metres, there was noone backing him up for the offload. Big Lindsay was roaring through the middle and no one was there for the offload... whereas you see Teddy, Cleary, Walker always backing up their big men.
