Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 4
The cat amongst the Pigeons in the Panthers forwards time might just be Segeyaro. He is likely going to be an 80 minute player meaning the make up of the bench will likely have 2 FRF's and 2 2RF's OR 3FRF's and 1 2RF. Having an extra forward on the bench will likely mean less game time for someone. Then there's Griffin

is this the 2016 equiv of the SUG?
I think it's more a generic list of players and to let other ex-sportal people know who we are now (isnt that right SI?)
The SUG proper is being worked on shortly by SI/Bren

You've named 18 there as "starters" if you are happy starting Taylor, then you might not need to start one of McQueen/Sue. Could you downgrade thyere and free up enough cash for someone like Sam Burgess?

This is my hope, was mentioned in the captaincy debate after just switching clubs so you would think he has a massive role to play for the PanthersScouter wrote:
Merrin is in my draft side and he should see at least 60 min i hope. He is a marquee signing on big bucks so should have a lot of involvement. At least that's my logic anyway.

surprised that people are going to play taylor. couldnt take the risk myself. i think he'll make cash slowly over time but he'll be another brooks in a team that struggles. other teams will run at him all day. plenty of 15's early on.
i really rate him as a young player but i dont see it converting to fantasy this year.

My logic on T-rex is that he is cheap enough that if he comes out in round 1 and scores 40 points while playing 80 minutes he is cheap enough that you don't have to pull the squad apart to get him in.
Do we know if he has been training the house down

Ah yep my bad. As My TV Broke mentioned I don't want to play Taylor as a starter.

Yep, this, exactly mate. Random set this league up as soon as the competition opened so that anyone who hasn't made their way across can see it's us. With "Sportal" in the name, eventually some lads will search it in the actual Fantasy site leagues and find our new name.Andy V wrote:my tv broke wrote:

Depends who does the general play kicking.
Half is the position where it is easiest for a rookie to come in and start producing big fantasy scores from the get go.
Forwards normally start getting eased into roles with small bench minutes, and many outside backs get started on the wing.
Sometimes a half might get started with 10 minutes here and there like Ben Hunt, Jackson Hastings - but once they get a starting spot they can starting producing straight away
They can also fizzle, but I'd trust a rookie half over other positions.
Guys like Parcell, Levi are ones who could be a slow burn. make cash, but do it slowly and not really produce good fantasy scores while they are starting out

TL;DR: Why the hell is everyone high on Cartwright? Expecting tries, or expecting minutes?
(If I messed up math don't point it out. I am from QLD.)
I look at Cartwright like this.
When he starts in the 2nd row, (which he did a lot post origin, and I think he will start this year) he plays big minutes averages 55 points.
Discount tries and its still 51 points.
I don't think he is competing with Merrin for minutes, so I am comfortable betting on him averaging well into the 40s, but with the potential for some very high scores.
Nobody else at that price seems that tempting.

Ive had Carty since day dot. Picked him up in ultimate last year because of his potential, should step it up a notch this year.

I think if Parcell starts he would be very hard to leave out as a cash cow. Picking Parcell would allow you to have another gun fwd. Im not sold on any of the fwds around the 160k mark.
There is also the potential of extra minutes when Matai gets injured, walker shifts into the centres, koro into the halves leaving Parcell to play at hooker!

If Parcell starts but only plays 40 minutes, then he might make some cash, but he'll do it slowly and won't score well enough to be in your 17 whilst he's doing it.
There are a lot of gun scoring hookers out there, and picking Parcell means you are giving up one of your hooker slots.
I see him being similar to Moseley last year, the odd good score but a lot of meh.
