Ok, I'll throw up my team, why not.

    Smith, JNiko
    Surgess, Vaughan, Grant, Evans
Parker, Whitehead, Rochow, Ah Mau, Jedwards, Leuluai
    SJohnson, JRey, Hastings, Taylor
    BJ, Green, Benry, Gutherson
    Mansour, Barba, Mann, Feeney, Mitchell

Done, Phuck it if you don't take risks its no fun*

*I'll likely change my mind again but that's the mentality for this hour

    Cutting it close.

    - No secondary Hooker god damn that is risky. But if it pays off more power to you.
    - Vaughan while a workhorse wont play massive minutes. I think there are better options especially in the 2RF (You can move Ah Mau or Leuluai) around his price. I am not saying he is bad, just saying I doubt he will improve.
    - J. Edwards is a risk because his minutes are up in the air and Watmough could be back next week as well.
    - S. Johnson is priced high, I think you should wait until his form slumps to pick him up later. (He often has quiet points in the year.)
    - No D. Cherry-Evans will hurt if he goes huge as everyone has him.
    - I don't rate BJ.. although I rate them from your mum.... But for real not a problem I just don't think he is worth it.

    Solid team otherwise.

Man that is a strong team. No resounding weaknesses, and most if not all you NPR's will score points. Good job!!

    Cheers lads

Agree the hooker option and no DCE is a pretty big risk, but I like to be a special snowflake so what the hell :p Don't agree on Vaughan though, reckon he will do 50-60min (even starting from the bench) but that's just a hunch.
Jedwards I really wasn't sold on, I've only got him because I thought he was really good at Raiders when given the chance (actually showed really good skills to set up his outside man a few times) and the competition around him looked pretty slim. Strong chance I change my mind and I've got 48k if I do so. Who would you suggest I swap him for though?

As BigNick said I'd pick Whitehead easily of that bunch and for the same reason - Whitehead has potential to become a premium or go close. BigNick also covers the risks too.

Yes, this is more what I am going for.  The cash is there for the 1st 2 or 3 rounds to correct mistakes.  So hoping I am not too far behind by then.  So a lot of us for example are going in with only 1 gun in the halves.  I will have the cash to upgrade the other 1 or 2 to guns if they fail.  Others are going in with a rookie hooker.  If I did that (I'm not) I would have the cash to correct that risk.

Not saying it will work and acknowledge it will more than likely not work, but after 9 years of playing this game conservatively I need to think outside the box.

Yep that's one of the benefits you will have with a large bankroll. It's one of the things I believe isn't well explored with the current price changing in fantasy, that is price changes immediately. It is generally accepted that starting with a low amount of cash in the bank ensures you have as many points on ground as possible. But that line of thinking really comes from the old game, where you had 2 rounds of corrections free of price changes. Now if a player under-performs (role or standards of play aren't up to preseason projections) or a player gets an LTI in-game you will lose cash on this player immediately, and you might not be able to replace like-with-like and you certainly couldn't upgrade. Not saying everyone should consider leaving money in the bank, just not sure if the old way of thinking is as absolute for the current game. And also we need a bit of luck.

I think even if it doesn't work this year it could work in another year. This year with the interchanges reducing you might be able to swoop on some who are getting jumps in tog. The conservative v aggressive approach is something that's always been a contentious topic in fantasy and is mostly subjective. Good luck with your team, I'm sure your results will be interesting and watched by anyone who's serious about fantasy.

I have against my better judgement and the majority of advice from the forum decided to run with it. Over the last decade I have always been an extremely conservative player up till last year. The next month will be the tell.

Hey guys, I got one spot left in my team and I cant for the life of me decide on who Very Happy

I am deciding between 3 players, Rochow, Grant, Turner.

Rochow I just don't see the money, averaging 40 he will make $50k
    Grant averaging 35-40 makes $30-75k
    Turner averaging 40 makes $100k

Based off that I would lean towards turner, but given the Gurgess coming back next week, how likely will a 40pt average be when he slots out of 13 into 11? (if not the bench)

If they are going to be in your 17 you need to pick the one that will score the most. Work out who you think that will be and grab them.

    Sucks, huh?

Seriously though, don't get too hung up on the first few rounds mate - scores are always a bit screwy with players getting match fitness back and adjusting to new combinations and whatnot. Next week it might be Eden getting 70 and Oates getting blanked.

A couple of potential PODs there.

Do you have cash? I know you have Copley there as depth but is there a chance the 40k plus whatever you have left could allow you to upgrade somewhere else to another gun?

    No idea what to do...

    Smith. J Niko
    Graham. Bromwich. Evans. D Saifiti
Surgess. Taupau, Parker. Carter, Rochow. J. Saifiti
    DCE. Hastings. C. Walker. Taylor
    Hunt. Gutherson. Green. Henry
    Inglis. Gordon. Mitchell. Barba. Eden.

Only $3K in the bank. Want to trade Evans out. With only $3K there is no wriggle room. The only options I can see is Evans - Matu'utai (Via Surgess to FRF, then Green to 2RF,). Other than that nobody NEEDS to be traded right now, but there are better cows out there, and Evans is pretty stale.

Which Bromwich? If its Jesse you could go to JTurbo and free up extra coin to help the Evans trade to someone like Mataora, Korbin or Paasi.

That'd be crazy. I'd be tempted to hold and go early on the next minimum price cow who you think is a chance at a few games.
