Who benefits most from this? Doorey? Hetherington?

As someone currently coaching an U8s soccer team, the improvement in goalkeeper ability from the start of the season to now has been remarkable.
Last week we grabbed a draw against a better team due to goalkeeper performance. Kids pulling off diving saves that just a month or 2 ago they would have looked at motionless as they rolled into the goal.

See my twins u8s team are not quite ready to commit one kid to a lifetime of thankless solitude in goals, so every kid is playing one half in there before switching out. Some of them don’t seem to realise they can suddenly use their hands. The whole u8s experience is equal parts the funniest and most frustrating hour of my week. And I’m not even coaching!. We should build an u8s support network.

That would be the least desirable option from a fantasy perspective.

    Absolutely

Doorey already starting so his output is what it is. I think Waddell starts or it could be Hetho/Napa if Jackson moves back to the edge (which wrecks Jackson’s fantasy appeal too)

We do the same thing with keepers, rotate a different 2 keepers every week. At the start of the year none of them wanted to touch it, but now there's normally people willing to volunteer.
Some still stand and watch, or alternate positioning between not leaving their goal line and never being anywhere near the goals. Kids that understand they can pick the ball up is a bonus.

Watching a game can be incredibly frustrating - we spend most of our training sessions trying to teach them to spread out and keep positions, but as soon as its game time they go straight to chasing the ball in a pack. They are starting to get it though, and its pleasing to watch when they start putting things together.

Yeah same deal and same focus

The funniest was one week they got so focussed on positions a few of them stopped chasing the ball when it went out of their “area”. Try to focus more on space than positions now.

    FANTASY FANATICS GAME OF SHEEP

Here we have it.  Game of Sheep.

    HOW TO PLAY

Answer the following 20 questions with the answer you think will be the most common answer from the forum. The idea is to figure out who knows the forum members the most. You don't enter what you think the answer is, but what you think the forum will think the answer is. Using an example:

For example, lets say the question is "What year will Kevin Walters get sacked"

    If 20 people answer and 5 say 2021, 15 say 2022.

    > The 5 people who answered 2021 will get 5 points.
    > The 15 people who answered 2022 will get 15 points

Highest points at end is champ. King or Queen of the Sheep.
So even if you think he'll get sacked in 2021 - the best answer is to say 2021 because that's what most people answered.

    HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ANSWER

Simple - PM me your answers.

It will help if you put your FF name and answers only, one per line and spelt correctly.  [Ie no numbers etc]. Eg

    Jumping Marlin
    Luke Brooks
    10250
    etc

    THE QUESTIONS

1:  Who is the best player in the NRL?
2: What position will MTB finish in fantasy this year. To nearest 250. [ie 1; 250; 500; 750; etc]
3: Who will win the wooden spoon this year?
4: Which fanatic do you most want to have a beer with?
5: What two teams will get knocked out in the Grand Final qualifiers?
6: Who is the Fantasy Fanatics villain of 2021?
7: Who is your favourite player to watch IRL?
8: Who is the FF quiet achiever - the fanatic who gives advice that you most take notice to.  [You cannot answer MS, MTB, Milch].
9: Which player would you most like to tackle where you can be the 3rd man in with a swinging arm with no repercussions (ie who do you most want to belt)?
10: Which player should replace Aubo as the player the Fanatics have a love affair with?
11: Which team in the NRL has the worst defence?
12: Is Nathan Cleary's 2021 the best fantasy season ever?
13: Who is the NRLs best tackler?
14: Which player has the biggest gap between their skills at IRL player and their fantasy output?  [Looking for name of a gun IRL player that does not translate to fantasy].
15: Which coach will be next sacked?
16: Which Fanatic would you most likely be OK introducing your mum to?
17: Which player should the Tigers recruit (ignore contracts) to build a team around.
18: What is the average time you spend on fantasy related activity each week, excluding watching games. Answer in hours
19: Who is the hardest player to tackle in the NRL?
20: What is your highest position ever in fantasy, rounded to nearest 50. [1, 50, 100 etc]

Meanwhile in NSW some travel restrictions in and going to be very interesting what it means for NRL. Standalone Origin might give them some time to figure it out.

My daughter's team has been largely the same group of kids for the last 3 years, so they're actually doing a pretty good job of keeping the field spread. Every game there's a moment when they string together some really quality passes - there's still plenty of pretty ordinary decision-making though!

Cam Murray averaging 60 excluding his injury game & one game in the second row.

Had flown completely under my radar until now.

Would you sacrifice a R17 number (Jackson/Lolo/Kapow) to get him instead?

Same with the rotating keeper which can dramatically turn a game...we have been 4-0 up and lost due to some comedy interpretation of the keepers role but if they want to have a turn who am I to say no.

Last week I fucked the sub rotations up and ended up with the only two girls who track back competently on the side lines for the last five minutes. We went from a tight tussle to losing by three in the space of a minute or two...they don't give that much of a shit though as long as there are snakes at the end of the game and they have fun!

My daughter is in U11s now, and they are starting to play something that looks like football. They are no superstars, but they can generally keep position, and can attempt to pass to a team mate.
Next year they have to play with the offside rule though, which is going to hurt a couple of the goal-hangers in her team.

U8s is the first year with a keeper in our leagues here. Years before that they just play 4-a-side with no goals so it is a bit of rolling maul around the ball, converting to positional play is taking some time to adjust to.
Heaps of times we'll get a throw in on half way, and a forward will go to take the throw-in, with absolutely everyone else on the team behind him
Or we'll win a corner with 1 person taking the corner, another about 2m away next to him, and everyone else back on half way. And if you tell a defender they are allowed to go up for a corner then you'll never see them again.
