How many times do people need to be told, North Island is Queensland, South Island is NSW.

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole, moved to Qld aged 13, 11 months and have to reside in the state before 13 to be eligible.

So I think he’s eligible for NZ, Samoa, USA (American Samoa) and probably Australia, but not Qld.

But he did play Qld u18s and u20s, even though he shouldn’t have been allowed, so they will probably let him play anyway

EDIT: the rules do say playing underage rep makes you eligible at senior level. It was probably designed to prevent state switching for dual eligible players and to grandfather players already at senior level when the rules changed (Inglis?).

In conclusion, Mulitalo gets to play becuase he was incorrectly allowed to play u18s and u20s for Qld.

It’s like if you broke the law but weren’t caught so you were allowed to just break it over and over again. Well played Qld. You always got Origin more than NSW

Ive never really given a shit about eligibility arguments..

To rule him out on game day is just ridiculous though.

The NRL really is so amatuer.

All before they tightened up the rules, but sure, keep going. (And some of those are eligible under current rules anyway)

Sucks for Mulitano but you need rules. At the end of the day he’s spent 3 of his 21 years in Qld, and none of his first 13. It also protects the international game. NZ might’ve just got a new winger.

And so now, I assume Coates is recalled.

Yeah it’s amateur that QRL and ARL/NRL let him play junior rep footy and let him make the extended squad without ever properly vetting him.

They should’ve known four years ago he was ineligible.

Instead it takes an international footy nerd on Twitter who got Steve Mascords attention and it went from there lol

Sucks for Ronaldo that the QRL dropped the ball there. He lived there long enough that he'd be accustomed to disappointment like this though. At least he'll be able switch off at halftime like the rest of Qld now too.

Womens state of origin was played without the PVL rules and it was one of the better games I've watched in recent times.

The Ronaldo situation is a farce.
I feel for the guy because the system has let him down and it's in no way his fault that he's been put in this situation.

Imagine having an embarrassment of riches to choose from, dominating the first game and still having a whine about a bloke in the grey area of eligibility when he's only getting a shot at a debut after a series of other injuries O_o.

I feel there’s a fair overlap with the “don’t expand eligibility to include Taumalolo etc” and “let’s break the rules so Mulitalo can play” groups.

Have you found the junior rep eligibility rules? I've only seen the Nrl Origin ones or however you want to refer to it. Would be curious as to what they are because I doubt they're the same.
