I don’t really buy the Cleary might ease back into it argument. He’s always thrown himself into the defensive work and I can’t see that changing once he’s fit enough to return.

This is a bit different. He won’t be returning from injury all good to go. He is going to attempt to manage it and see out the season before getting surgery. There is still a chance he doesn’t come back this year. Panthers have the game in the bag, surely Cleary comes off. Why keep him on when the only thing that can come of that is causing further damage which sounds like is a real possibility.

Mulvy wrote:I've been weighing up the hold or sell Cleary dilemma. One problem with the hold option is that when I plan out my trades I find one of my last trades is Burton to Fifita/Turbo (which was always the plan actually after rd18). The problem is if Cleary is out for the longer end of the estimate and I find myself wanting to hold Burton, but positional requirements require me to sell him whilst still holding a Cleary red dot. Or I might find myself playing Simmo instead of Turbo because I'm waiting to sell Burton. I guess an injury would probably come along to sell instead I suppose.

Selling Cleary and getting in Harris and Turbo does actually improve my team this week. And it would result in my final (planned) trade being Burton to Cleary which is nice. It would however probably require a cash out next week and holding about 700k itb until Cleary gets back. So really I'd only be spending the Cleary cash for one week, which isn't ideal, but I don't have the trades to do a lot better I think. Neither option is great.

If you can, I think you grab Harris as soon as you can - so there's a definite big upside with that one.

I'm weighing up the Turbo trade as well. The one thing putting me off a little is that I only expect him to play this week, and am pretty confident he will be rested R18.
It sounds like he has some real workload management (I assume to help protect his hammies) - Freddie mentioned in SOO1 camp that Turbo wasn't training, because it was one of his rostered off days and I'm sure he said he's only allowed to train every second day. In the SOO2 camp Turbo was rested with the first training day - he said with workload management he doesn't train two days after a game. R18 he plays two days after - It just seems like the sort of thing they will (understandably) play it safe on.

That being said, he's probably still worth grabbing this week IF he puts up a banner (likely if we don't buy him).
FWIW - I'd probably sell Cleary before Burton

Still stuck between bringing in bye players or final team players.

    Thompson v Murray
    Lolo v Crichton
    JMK v Cook

There are a few more too but just can’t think

Team for the bye so far includes

    Verrills
    Harris
    Schuster, Tupouniua
    SJ, ARey

    Walsh

I'm thinking that given i have at least 17 green dots it's no trades for me this week.

I'm leaning towards holding Cleary until my team can't be improved by other means. Probably means I'm making a call on this post origin and byes. There's not a lot of bye guns/keepers so my fear is selling cleary and ending up with a team of middies, no trades and trying to pick which week Taupau gets minutes.

Leaning towards a single trade this week of TPJ > Simmo. Gets me 17 on the field this week.

I'm thinking Arthurs probably drops out, but also its Kevy, so who knows.

The make up of the bench is probably irrelevant, Kevy's use of it is all over the shop each week.

I love Kyrgios. Has definitely had some pretty bad tantrums in the past but I have no issue with him calling out the surface in this one.
He's now an underrated player and people still judging him for things he did as a teenager.

Meanwhile Paire has a tantrum on the court, tanks and claims he's injured just to get at the umpire and people are worried for his mental health rather than saying he was acting like a sook.

I also love Kyrgios for calling out Djokovic for being a cunt Laughing

    BUMP

At this stage I’ve got Cleary out for Turbo, probably stupid thinking as I only have 8 trades remaining but at this stage my team looks like this

    7 trades 419k bank

    Brailey
    Haas Crichton Harris
    CHN Matterson
    ARey Moses
    Olam Crichton
    Teddy Hynes Turbo

    Fogarty
    SJ
    Burton
    TPJ

    Verrills
    Jones
    Simonsson
    Walsh

I’m not really sure who to trade TPJ to apart from the obvious Fifita trade but I suppose I could hold a week and use Pangai for a loop? That money could be set aside for getting Cleary back in too I suppose. Any thoughts?

My plan is Crichton this week, Taumalolo next week, and Fifita R18/19 (depending on him backing up from origin)

that is 3 of my last 7 trades

    Of the last 4
    one is for Papy/Ponga/3rd WFB
one is reserved for getting Cleary back (on the off chance i can actually afford it)

2 are for injuries, or to upgrade Ryan Matterson / Luke Thompson if I get the chance.

I will run out of trades very early this year, but it is what it is.

Actual question in the Lone Scout QandA this morning:

What are you doing for players who are made to quarantine due to COVID at no fault of their own (eg. Curran)? Free trade? Apply their average for the weeks they are set to miss?

I like the balls of starting on the basis that compensation if a player is quarantining for COVID is a given, so the question is just about the terms of the compensation..

This is why we got free trades last year.

I don’t need him this week, so will probably wait for a ‘quiet’ game where he busts less than 10 tackles and hope he drops a bit more cash

Probably just Ford - Verrills for me

Or maybe an additional Nofo - Latrell/Turbo/Ponga
