Rd2: Vailea to Mann. Red dot to starting lock playing 60 minutes. I had cash left over after TPJ was a late out and I got JTB instead. Good trade. I could have sold JTB instead but I figured Vailea would not be useful, JTB still had a slight chance of being useful.
Rd3: Bullemor to Thompson. Like many I wrestled with Bullemor vs Tuilagi out. In the end I figured Bullemor had an expiry date, whereas Tuilagi was out primarily for a one week concussion protocol. Bullemor got a 6 that week, so dodged a bullet there. Got Thompson at $249 which turned out pretty well. Good trade.
JTB to Starling. JTB was dead and Starling now had excellent JS with Hodgson out. Good trade.
Rd4: Walters to Jones. Walters had had two bench appearances and looked set to drop cash again Taking the 100k gain and going to a half decent cow. Fair trade.
Rd5: No trades. I really wanted a cow but there weren't any in my mind. Should have got May probably.
Rd6: Scrichton and Mann out for Cleary and Koula. Koula looked solid in real life and was looking more likely to get an extended run. Mann probably had more money to make, but as Honey Badger had pointed out beforehand, if he kept getting shunted around he couldn't be a keeper and should be moved on when peaked. I went a bit early, but turned out lucky because shunting around was exactly what happened then he got injured. Three weeks in a row I was saying it's only a matter of time before Cleary goes bang, and indeed he did. Got lucky with the timing. Scrichton out was the downside of this trade. I knew it would make me vulnerable at wfb3. But I wanted to get Cleary without trading a gun. Mann and Crichton allowed for that and weren't keepers (in the 17, Crichton probably a keeper at 19). Fair trades.
Rd7. Paulo to Taaffe. The out was good, but the in was poor. I was never enthusiastic about this trade, the stats weren't great and he wasn't base price or anything, but I was getting a bit desperate for cash generation. Poor trade. Should have seen it with foresight.
Rd8: Randall to Hastings. Randall had peaked, Hastings looked primed to make the cash I was desperate for, let's not fuck around, do it. Good trade. I wasn't certain whether he'd be a keeper but figured he should at least make cash and doesn't play origin. I was going to trade in Tevaga as well, but got put off with the Harris back news.
Rd9: Haas and Jones to TPJ and Turbo. Controversial. I think the jury is out on these ones. I normally like to trade out an origin player or two over the origin period. I was going to keep Haas though because I figured Kevvy will need to keep playing him. But his injury and rumours of another scandal gave me the option of fixing wfb3 by taking an early punt on Turbo and getting another bye player in TPJ. Jones was injured and looked to be out with the troops back anyway. And Haas is losing cash, I might be able to get him back cheaper. TPJ and Turbo could be anything. ?? trade.
Rd10: Taaffe and Thompson to Burbo and Wishart. Again still chasing cash, it's been a massive struggle this year. The outs were good despite Taaffe's good score last week, he's still a spud and doesn't play the bye. Thompson had peaked had made 114k which was good enough. The jury is out on Burbo and Wishart but not looking good. At least they freed up a bunch of cash. We'll see. Fair/poor trades.
