Soni Luke is wishful thinking from fantasy coaches. The only bench hooker to regularly get more minutes than the starter in my last 15 years playing this game is Starling. And he was behind a small minute player in Havili

Kennedy is a gr8 fullback, knows where to be. And yeh I agree, he isn't the fastest, but maybe he is holding back

If we had bigger squads I'd slot him in

If you’d watched him a little last year at 7 instead of focusing on Talakai you might have a different opinionmattnz wrote:
Yep, I watched Hynes win man of the match in Allstars at fullback, while forcing Latrell into the halves.

When you look at the Panthers bench they get 25 mins from Leniu, 35 mins consistently from Sorenson.
If Yeo plays 80, Leota 40, JFH 50, would only leave 10 minutes in the MID for Kenny. Wouldn't be counting on much outside of HOK.
Last season, when Koro started hooker and Kenny bench it was 70/30 average (so Kenny 20 in the middle)
So worst case I think is Kenny 50, Luke 30. Which is not a disaster for Kenny owners, but probably is for any Luke owners

It's paywalled but I assume they're talking about Fermor's injury as well as DWZ being ruled out for the Warriors
If you have the link I can get past the paywall

I'm with MS on the Kenny/Luke split.
I can't recall any other examples of a starting HOK playing less mins there than the bench one, other than Starling and we all know Sticky loves to play funny buggers with his rotations.

Found it.
Popular SuperCoach back-rower Luke Garner will be given first crack at replacing Viliame Kikau on the edge, with Zac Hosking to remain 18th man.
Despite pre-season speculation Jesse McLean may have jumped Sunia Turuva for a wing role, the Fijian flyer has nabbed the spot and will start. McLean has been named in NSW Cup.
Expect Mitch Kenny to play the first 25-30 minutes, with Soni Luke to deputise at hooker for the remainder of the game. Matt Eisenhuth, Tyrone Peachey and Lindsay Smith were omitted from the reserves 24-hours before kick-off.

Knights late mail: Despite chat that recruit Adam Elliott would start at lock, he’s still recovering from a pre-season injury and will play off the bench, with Kurt Mann remaining in the run on side.
Jackson Hastings will kick goals over Ponga to begin the season, but this could change at any stage.

He also increases risk of reinjury if doing lots of kicking. Everyone else thinks the odds are <1%, I don't.
as a physiotherapy student I am very interested to hear your anatomical analysis for why kicking would increase reinjury rates for his calf more than, you know, running

Why would Soni get the bulk of the Hook minutes?
The article doesn't say. Guesswork? Informed source? Chicken entrails? Pillow talk with the coach's wife?
Gotta wait and see I suspect.

I heard whispers it was from Ponga himself. Sick of getting isolate on kick returns then coping swinging arms/head slams.
Still gets the same attacking chances at 6 but less chance of reinjury.
This. And the fact that Gamble isn't an NRL level half.
He's clearly a depth signing. Add a bit of mongrel to the team on the side.

I don't think the headline and the first sentence are related
Article is paywalled but at a guess the injury crisis refers to Beau Fermor (or maybe Luke Thompson depending on how up-to-date it is)

New article today on Hynes, quoting Fitz “It’s not a huge injury. It’s just in a delicate spot. You’ve got to play the long game a bit there,” Fitzgibbon said.
“He’s a valuable player to the club, and we felt like it was a risk at this stage. It hasn’t happened that long ago, so we’ll have to wait and see. It’ll be a week-by-week proposition, but it’s not a huge injury and we want to get it right so it’s not lingering.”
