Another Friday arvo spinning wheels trying fruitlessly to find the perfect trade that just won’t work…

    Need a mid, want Manu.

Qn: Anyone think Manu not worth chasing? Currently my back 5 lines up as:

    Bird, Alamoti
    Teddy, Trbo, Miller /Sloan, Warbrick

Alomoti to Manu quite the upgrade.

I think it's to do with the planting of the foot. I'm sure someone smarter than me could explain it technically.
All I remember from my playing days is that it was never comfortable place kicking if I had a hammy strain.

It's definitely planting of the foot that causes it.

I remember DC had an issue with it during his career for the ABs.

Would get injured in training and often it was from goal kick practice.

Even did it during the 2011 world cup (thank god for Beaver)

For all the rhetoric around how terrible the Tigers are, they haven't been that bad.
    Sure, they're not looking like having the polish to win games, and their attack is clunky as, but that aside, they've been in most games they've played this year;

Lost 4 games by 6 points or less, 2 by 12 points and the other was a blow-out
If there were points for winning the second-half (there isn't) then they would have some points - I know that's a mostly redundant statement, but it does show that, in most instances, they have some character and haven't just packed their bags and gone home when they're behind (pretty much every game).

Unfortunately for them, they have a below average halfback in arguably career-worst form - even a moderate level controlling half may have been enough to chalk a couple of wins.

If Penrith are "on" then Tigers could get routed, but I suspect it's just a get the job done win for the Panthers (I have a crazy molecule of hope for an upset, but always do)

Started to type out something similar, but less eloquently. Swap Brooks and Cleary and it’s a different ballgame.

Manu playing as advertised at 6. As long as he holds that spot will be a must have. The risk is that he doesn't hold the spot, but even then will get games at fullback and is a pretty decent center

This got me thinking. If you could have one of Hynes or Cleary in your NRL team, who would you pick? Hynes has closed the gap enormously.

    Key points;

    - Needs more Trell

    - I like the idea of Walsh on a fire pit (I know it was a typo, but I liked the imagery)

    - Reynolds.
This feels like a story where you were with your partner for a long time, but she was getting older and things had become predictable.
You weren't ready to commit more years, you couldn't see yourself growing old together, so you started looking around, spotted a younger alternative, they were exciting and full of potential, and so you broke it to her. You could maybe offer her the next year but didn't know where you wanted to be after that.
Well she moved away, she left to live hew happy ever after life in Brisbane, until one day you found yourselves in the same place, you could see how happy she now is, how she's landed on her feet and made a new home for herself, a new life maybe even a better life, and then you realise, you'd let go the love of your life.
And you look across, and there sits Lachlan Ilias, so you wait, biding time until you can go out and party with Jack W

Long-term - still Cleary for me

Try to win a comp this year - maybe Hynes, just because he may be available during Origin and Cleary definitely won't be. He also feels like someone you could plug into any system more readily, but that could be rubbish.

Hynes - I think culture is often as important as talent - Hynes brings a bit positive to both
I'd enjoy my team doing better, but I'd also enjoy them being likeable

I've never been a Brooks-basher, but their halves are causing a lot of drag in that team.

Manu built for fantasy mate especially in that position. I have a slight man crush but playing that position, he looks like almost a must have.

I am tossing up between Latrell and Manu

Reason I am worried about Manu is that I think Sam Walker comes back before too long, and then Manu just becomes an above average centre

Can trade him in for potential short term and hope he keeps up his big scores at 6, but worried about burning too many trades.
Obviously Latrell has availability issues with origin coming up, but other than that he can sit in my team all year and and I don't have to worry about spending another trade on him,

Was also considering Drinkwater, but Cowboys form this year didn't inspire enough confidence. Based on last night, he may have been worth a punt but too late now

I've always wanted Brooks to do well.

But this year its just become hard. The Tigers have been in contention during the 2nd half quite often this year, and when they are looking for a try at a crucial time you never get the feeling that Luke Brooks will conjure something up.
he's not the only problem in the team, but getting a proper halfback needs to be 1st, 2nd and 3rd priority )which I guess explains why we've been apparently reaching out to every man and his dog over in England trying to get someone)

Gut feel is that Cleary will play

    Enjoyed catching up on that

Turbo, already traded him, good riddance

Cleary rumours are delightful as a non owner/Hynes captainer

Some of the benches posted were outrageously good

ET most optimistic Tigers fan ever and tend to agree with him that they aren’t far away from winning a few games,

I am ridiculously excited about broncos vs rabbits, would prefer if Paine was playing for the spectacle but think it’s gonna be an awesome event

    Reynolds kicking masterclass needed,

I’m have a spidey sense latrell takes out Reece with some sort of dog shot, don’t know why, just can’t shake that feeling

In real life it's still Cleary without any hesitation for me. Plenty of big game experience now, finals and origin. Seen him execute in plenty of big moments. Look at that drop goal to force OT a little while back, just pulled off that mega clutch play with ice in his veins like nothing. Seen him make much bigger plays on D as well.

Personally I'd take Munster and DCE over Hynes for now as well (ignoring age) because again so much experience in big moments.

I feel like, even though I don't like Melbourne or Queensland, that Munster doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves. Like everyone accepts he's good, but he's so fucking good, can break games apart with ease, his energy brings others up around him, and he's just got that when everything is on the line give me the fucking ball and I'll give you some magic to him.
