I don't see anything wrong with Stuart caring about his club/relationship with players. Yeah, it might be a bit awkward, but there are a lot more awkward things that happen around RL than a bloke in a high-pressure environment speaking about a situation that's clearly been pretty challenging
FWIW - What you saw was from fox was a spliced-up condensed version of the presser to make it as heightened & dramatic as possible (there were quite a number of questions put to him in and around Jack Wighton - the journo's want the emotion).
