Woods in the halves would be interesting. Probably a better defender than Brooks though.

Re: Wests Tigers 2017 Premiers
I'm surprised the Tigers (and a few other clubs for that matter) aren't looking at some of the ex-pats that are doing well in the halves OS.
Albert Kelly and Robert Lui spring to mind, particularly Lui who played his best football at the Tigers before his gutless act that saw him sacked.

He looked a bit like Brooks when he attempted to tackle Lolo the other week.......but I take your point.
On the other hand and in fairness to Brooks, he would probably bend the line more than Woods if he switched to playing prop.

Re: Wests Tigers 2017 Premiers
I dont understand why they would want to keep Moses for the rest of the year, and even Woods - as he is going to the dogs apparently.
Tedesco is going to the roosters too apparently - so
1. Fuck moses off to reserve grade.
2. Fuck Tedesco off to reserve grade if he signs with the roosters
3. Fuck Woods off to reserve grade if he signs with the Dogs.
Why continue using these guys if they arent going to be there next year, and they are the a big big part of the reason the side is in such a fucking horrible position. Feels like we have been speaking about brooks/moses signing for 2/3 years now.
If the Dogs/Eels/Roosters want the guys this year, get money off them and or some players in return.

Re: Wests Tigers 2017 Premiers
Who are you suggesting play first grade in place of those 3?
Their replacements for 2018 aren't at the club yet. Its not like we have promising juniors being kept out of first grade by them.
Our season might not be going great places now, but if we dump those 3 it will guarantee the spoon.
Tigers don't gain anything significant by giving extra game time to the likes of Justin Hunt, Jordan Rankin and Joel Edwards
Obviously if we can get some players to come across mid-season in return that would change things. But just dumping them because they have signed elsewhere is just punishing ourselves our of spite.

Why play them if they 1. fucked the club over by taking so long and 2. Are not going to be there next year?

Re: Wests Tigers 2017 Premiers
You still have to win matches to bring in sponsorship to have more money to help have a better run club, to make better signings.
By all means if their potential replacements are virtually as good as them (as with Justin Hodges in 2001 at the Broncos when they dropped him for Brett Tate), but as Milchow said, I don't think their replacements are anywhere near as good.
Plus, you've been talking in the Newy thread about having the right mix of experience to help the young guys. Blokes like Suli are going to improve more with Woods and Teddy in the team and be better players next year and beyond for it. Otherwise they will end up like, dare I say it, Newcastle, who have lots of good young players, but 2-3 years after they make their debut aren't as good as what they would be if half of them made their debut back then with half a team of decent players.

Wests Tigers members email says that on Tuesday they gave Woods and Tedesco a deadline of Friday to accept contract offers.
So looks like by this time tomorrow afternoon they will be officially starting the search for replacements

Re: Wests Tigers 2017 Premiers
Its not like Woods/Moses/Ted have been able to get them wins over the last few years anyway. The have held the club hostage, then when the club was ready to pay the ransom - they blew the hostages heads off anyway.
Those guys have been there for years and they havent won a thing! They are now jumping ship and As a matter of principle they should fuck those guys off to reggies, or get players and money in exchange for them this year.
I would be stripping the captaincy off woods and rewarding players who are going to be around.
I reckon the tigers are in a worse position than newcastle. At least we have 1 young gun wrapped up for the next 5 years or so. The tigers are 100% in rebuild from the dirt up mode if/when ted and woods both go. Newie are doing that too, but our worst period was last year - the tigers worst is ahead of them IMO.
They should chase some guys like Matt Dufty, Jai Field, Luciano Leilua. Fuck, sign David Mead to play FB for the rest of the season.

Re: Wests Tigers 2017 Premiers
For tedesco - they could get Michael Gordon and watson/matherson
For woods - they could get tolman and an outside back like lee or hoppa
Fuck I hate how much power the players have in league. The clubs should be in charge, not the players.

Also maybe the Friday deadline corresponds with the 10 day cooling off period, and come Saturday there might be press conferences by other clubs to announce the new signings.

You make it sound like the Tigers just need to press a button and these players will come over to them with no further questions
Roosters and Bulldogs are title contenders. They aren't going to release players to the Tigers just for shits and giggles.
Tolman is contracted until 2020, Graham until 2018. Its not like theTigers can just get them over.
But if the Tigers could organise a player swap of reasonable quality, I'm sure they'd be happy to let Moses/Woods/Teddy go
But the one thing they should not do is replace their best players with reserve graders out of spite.

Why not? Moses signed a contract elsewhere out of spite. Woods got the coaching changed out of spite.

I still don't understand why the Bulldogs would want Woods when they have Tolman who plays a similar high workrate style and someone as creative as Graham. With Klemmer and Kasiano there next year as well.

Plenty of play makers on the market this year, Matulino will be a good addition and someone else more starch than pillow like Graham. I'll take that

Re: Wests Tigers 2017 Premiers
I know this isn't something that is palatable to most NRL fans (particularly Tigers) but I think we need to give some credit where credit is due.
Isaac Moses would have to be the best player agent in the comp.
Not only has he been able to hold a club to ransom all on the back of what is effectively and overall a shit hand of cards.
He has subsequently also been able to successfully sign or re-sign the shittest 3 of the 4 players he was holding the club to ransom over.
How he has managed to get decent money for Woods, Brooks and Moses is a credit to the bloke.

Matulino is good in addition to another top line prop. If he is the only replacement for Woods that we sign, it will not be good for us.

Tedesco and Woods have reportedly left for smaller offers than what the Tigers were offering.
That is not a good result for Issac Moses.
Its not like Teddy and Woods not signing a contract at all was a possible result.

Yeah it's not a good result in terms of a percentage cut for Isaac but comparing what they signed with elsewhere to what the Tigers were/are offering is hardly a fair comparison.
If (heaven forbid) I was Aaron Woods and I signed with the Dogs for 50% of what the Tigers were offering, then I would be very happy with my manager.
Client satisfaction must be at an all time high.
