Milford set to dominate alongside Cronk, Smith and Boyd, so Qld, even with those other selections, are still red hot favourites for mine, or just strong favs IF NSW put Hayne in the 1.

Re: QLD State of Origin 2019 Thread
Slater not named. Happy days for NSW. Might not change the result but Qld haven't picked there best side. Wallace left out also, so that's good, I was concerned about his selection. guerra, Myles and Lillyman won't be bad, but I'm glad they've been selected, same with O'Neil.

Re: QLD State of Origin 2019 Thread
Not the side I would have picked, but I'm sure they'll do the job. Fuck that backrow looks tasty, even with no Parker. Gillett is one of the elite players in the game at the moment IMO. Him and Lolo are probably the 2 best forwards in the game now (Cam Smith aside).
It puts us in a good position. In the unlikely event that we lose, Slater and Thurston comes back into the side to make us stronger. If NSW lose, unless they do something really left field like leave Fifita out, you doubt they can make changes to get stronger for game 2.

being at home maybe?? but then we're back at suncorp in game 3 so there goes that
QLD back row is strong and even without JT, the spine is still so far ahead of ours its not funny
i don't really rate the front row/bench and i do think their outside backs could have been better then what they picked, slater and holmes are both 2 of QLD's best 5 backs, can't always fit them in but i'm surprised both those guys out

Yeah I'm surprised those guys were left out too, particularly Slater. To me the team is stronger with him in for O'Neill. I'd also pick Holmes before Oates, but there isn't a significant difference there.
I really rate Napa, but at the moment, with Scott injured and Tamou and a few others not at their best form, I reckon the Prop position, Fifita aside, is either fairly thin of top level quality at the moment, or the players who are going really well, such as Vaughan and Packer, you wonder whether this is their "Tony Williams 2011/Blake Austin 2015" moment, or whether it's a genuine improvement to that level.

Re: QLD State of Origin 2019 Thread
Was a great ploy by Kevin making Milford the 6. Will be interesting if they drop him cold if Thurston is fit to play, but a massive "suck on that" to Wayne. I look forward to Wayne's response.

Re: QLD State of Origin 2019 Thread
wasn't JT a chance to play on thursday ? him playing 13 days after that doesn't seem like the miracle kevvie is making it out to be
i think kevvie is doing jsut that ice, picking milf to ensure he stays in camp until they know what is happening with JT (which i hate tbh)

The QLD loyalty myth evident once again. Greatest marketing ploy ever.
They should have left Oates out too while they were at it.
This is great, QLD not picking their strongest side - pretty amazing.
Im still not ruling out Thurston either.

That sounds like Qld. Panicking after 10 from 11 - desperate to prove the haters wrong.
Wait... no, I'm thinking of the other guys....

Re: QLD State of Origin 2019 Thread
QLD $1.75, NSW $2.10
Sounds about right, due to history, but I imagine it's going to open pretty much even on game day.
Best NSW side I've seen on paper for a hell of a long time

If I could bet against my team (and if NSW weren't perennial losers) I'd be all over that $2.10.
I generally like the team Kev has picked but I would have picked Slater and shifted Boyd to the wing at the expense of Oates (who is terribly out of form).

Im already on.
First time the QLD 1-17 has been worse on paper then NSW in a long time. QLD home game and expecting JTs return tip it back to our favour but $2.10 is outstanding value.

Re: QLD State of Origin 2019 Thread
of fuck off, you guys arn't trying to be under dogs again, once JT makes his 'miracle recovery', the matchup between the spine is
Boyd/Jt/Cronk/Smith
V
Teddy/maloney/pearce/peats
the only one that is even close to debatable is fullback but on 2017 form, not even that is debatable to be honest

Ahhhh, you Qlders are so funny. Your spine is miles in front, miles!! The rest is pretty even save for maybe a prop and Our centres (injury concerns aside) Your backrow has ours covered also.
I think poise and control of Boyd, Cronk and Smith will allow Milford the freedom to cut loose and he will make our forwards look silly.
I'm all over Milford for first And last try scorer and MOTM.

Its hilarious hey Ice
They talk about how good their team has been for the last 10 years, but before every game all of a sudden they are harping on about how they are underdogs... too funny.
