I thought that too, but really, can you imagine Johnson leaving the Warriors? No chance.

Warriors will pay him more if they have to. He is the Warriors right now in more ways than one.

Yeah I agree there's no way the Warriors would let him go & they'd just throw money at him.
I also think the Warriors should relocate to Aussie but that wouldn't happen either.

I don't think it's that hard to picture Johnson leaving the Warriors really. He's been through a lot there, been ran through the media a bunch of times. His brand could grow hugely if he went to Australia which is something he has been trying to develop.

From an on-field perspective he could take his career to far greater heights elsewhere.

When you don't have the guy under contract, you don't exactly have a choice of letting him go if the guy wants to leave.

Not sure who you are talking about but the only decent halves I can see that are off contract are Johnson, Foran, Moses or Widdop. Who else am I missing that is decent?

Since when does someone need to be off-contact to move clubs?
But yes, Johnson, Foran and Widdop are good for staters. Be interesting to see if Bellamy would want Widdop back.

I still think they will run with Croft next year. His playing style is very similar to Cronks from what I have seen.

yep, they say that's the reason why they went with Jacks to start with Cronk.
Every chance Croft and Jacks start... or Munster into the halves with Jacks... they certainly don't NEED to buy another half but I can't remember Melbourne starting a season with two "rookie" halves and I don't think (imho) Bellamy would do that if he had other options unless he had supreme faith in Jacks to lead a team around.

Also, Melbourne have a ample time between now and next season to get a gun half onto their roster.

No reason why they can't sign someone like Moses or Widdop (again) to partner Croft. I don't see Jacks there long term (hence why I didn't mentioned him in the equation). Croft is the Storms future. He will be suiting up come round 1 next year mark my words.

Jacks is off contract at the end of this year where as Croft is signed until 2019.

Fair call. Either way, I think it's unlikely to be both of them in the halves and there will most likely be a signing.
Who have they got to replace Tohu and his cash? Anyone?

Exactly. Jacks and Croft won't be lining up in the halves next year as you suggested. Croft will be there but.

No idea about Tofu however they seem to be going alright without him!

Why would Croft + Jack's not?

Doesn't make any sense to not play them unless they get somebody else.

Bellamy doesn't need to have a superstar half. If he does buy anyone they'll be someone cheap and unwanted who he'll make into a great player.

mulvy wrote:Finally caught up. On holidays at the moment. A few things:

In regards to TBO's assertion no one would have predicted an 80 from Gallen, I pretty much did. From thread 21:

"Can't help but think this Gallen trade talk reminds me of this exact round last year with Merrin. Three mediocre scores (I traded him out) and then an 83 the following week. I don't have Gallen, but I tend to agree with Bren, he's a hold."

Second, @wolfking sorry if I talked you in to the Bodene trade but hopefully it's just the one game and your team looks good, similar to mine, just not getting the luck.

Speaking of luck I don't think it was luck at all as some have suggested, that I played CHN and Cotric, I honestly thought they would score well and I predicted that Brailey wouldn't score well last week.

So that's probably enough bragging about my predictions that came true. That's all I've got to brag about unfortunately given my current rank of 6092 Sad .

Yep mulvz u were the voice of reason that made me stop and think 'do i really need to do this gallen trade out?'. So thanks very much for speaking up it was great.

dreamers wrote:So the hot trade ins this week is Cook and Frawley.

I would be surprised if Frawley is named in the 17 unless the injury to Lichaa rules him out and Mbye plays hooker but they have Garvey too?

Farah could be out for only a week or two, even if Cook keeps a starting spot his minutes will be inconsistent with Farah there.

Many coaches are clutching at straws.

Anyway, the anticipation of TLT is exciting this week.

    Oath mate, TLT every week!

Between Scott Hill, Brett Kimmorley and Cooper Cronk... you could say that Melbourne has never fielded a squad without a superstar half.

Bellamy has had Cronk on the books almost since he's been coaching the Storm so we can't out-and-out say what he will or will not do now that Cronk is going.

He's bought cheap forwards and cheap centres and worked them well within the squad but nothing says he'll turn a cheap halfback into a better player.
