NRL baffles me. Seems a sure sign they arent interested in growing fantasy when stats everywhere show fantasy players watch MORE sport as a direct result of playing fantasy games.

3k major prize is WOEFUL. I mean at no stage do I ever expect to win, but whoever does deserves 20k imo.

We don't do it for the money, which is fucking lucky because those prizes are woeful (unless you're a Panthers fan, and from memory the Panthers have the easiest comp to win.)
Hopefully Fantasy Pro will be five times cheaper to reflect the prizes, but somehow I doubt it.

Its true. Before 2012 I used to only watch broncos games and that was one game every two to three weeks sometimes. Now I love fantasy ive turned into SI watch every game religiously and when I used to work at dreamworld over the weekend I had our back computer set up live streaming the stats on the website..
More of an obsession now I think about it

Yep, before 2014 I didn't give two shits about NRL and never watched a game. Work friends started fantasy in 2014 and I was in just to be involved and the rest is history.

That is a terrible prize compared to years gone by.
IT was a FREAKING CAR one year. Then $20k.
What's the bet that someone from Perth wins it too, save them some money.

Some guy just posted on sc addicts that Sironen has been training at 6 for Manly. Surely they're not thinking of playing Sironen in the halves. If this does happen then DCE could be a great option especially if he goal kicks as well.

There has been a lot of speculation about captains loophole. Hearing now that once captain is locked in they are locked in. Cannot be moved anywhere. There has been a lot of speculation about captains loophole. Hearing now that once captain is locked in they are locked in. Cannot be moved anywhere.

I vaguely remember him saying in an interview at the tigers that he only wants to play in the halves a game or two after he debuted.
But if true I will be putting DCE into my team

That makes sense, but it would suck to see the loophole gone, such a cool little trick that made the bye rounds more fun. That makes sense, but it would suck to see the loophole gone, such a cool little trick that made the bye rounds more fun.

Someone I was impressed with at the end of last year was T. May. From memory was a 2rf/hlf position but came in with some fairly useful scores at back end of season with injuries. Played a good game for fantasy scoring broke tackles, offloaded and looked to break line, supported well for a few meat pies as well. I think behind Malony,Chn. Cartwright etc etc he struggles though.

Whilst talking prizes, I can't wait til I win the West Tigers supporters prize next year, 2 tickets to the grand final luncheon, woo-hoo, just what I wanted. Will need to post security on my front door after delivery too, in case I get burgled.
I think I will become a faux Panthers fan, they have better prizes. (Note the plural on prizes, Tigers have SFA)

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
Wouldn't surprise me if that's all the prizes they have, but just want to clarify this was taken off a testing version of the website. So they might still add in more prizes. The link to the prize page itself doesn't go to anything currently, those were all in the terms and conditions.
In saying that, they're all different to last year so it's not like they've copied over just tlas placeholder text.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
I was just talking with Blindside (so blame him if its a bad idea) and he suggested that NRL fantasy should charge people $5-10 to submit a team, then all proceeds go to prizes. That doesn't sound like a bad idea but I wouldn't expect 100,000 people to play, but then again, maybe they would if prizes were better.

Whilst I agree that would help the prizes and even if some of the proceeds went to the NRLs various charities I would be inclined to pay but the whole gimmick of fantasy is that you can play for free!
Like when my mates were talking me into it back in 2012 when I didn't really follow the NRL the fact I had to pay for my mates to flog me in something I didn't fully understand would have put me off.

I'd pay.
I pay to play fantasy motocross / supercross ($20 entry) where the first 3 prizes are worth 10-25k (and there'd be not even 1/10th of the people who play NRL fantasy)

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
I'd pay up to $10, hell I pay $20 for fantasy coach so another 10 would be an easy choice.
Even if 50,000 register at $5 each, that's $250,000. Give half to a charity and spend the rest on prizes. The following year would see more people register and the prizes could be increase again.

Re: 2018 NRL.com Fantasy thread part 1
We pay for premium fantasy already. So they surely have $$$ sitting around. What was it like $20 last year? which unlocks BE's and other stats
