I see Gillett as offering 10+ points of value. Will need to keep an eye on how he comes back from injury. Might be a keeper but with plenty of risk at the moment.

AHoppa is a bandwagon pick. Seems to be getting some early indicators of nabbing a starting spot. TBH I needed to fill my team with another cheap player. Although, I've spent about 30 mins hunting down further info on various forums etc and not much out there... yet Very Happy

Wouldn't mind hearing more about Gillett & AHoppa mate - what are your thoughts there?

What’s driving the Easy E pick? He’ll be playing in a more stacked pack than last year - are you expecting him to move to Fifita sort of levels? The guys a weapon, but I’m not sure he’s that much of a game breaker.

Is the KMann pick in anticipation of him starting as hooker? And the Leila pick because of JdB’s anticipated absence?

    Good looking team otherwise

Hey man, thanks for the feedback. I have not much for ya in terms one answers unfortunately. Today is the first tie I've looked at NRL 2019 so just chucking a team together with little to no research.

No answer to the Easy E Q - I need to do some research on him. Just hoping he might lift just a bit this season and in that case he's a keeper at a decent price.

Yes, re Mann - hoping he gets the start.

Re Leillua, I just remember watching him last year at the back end thinking he looked pretty deadly. I recall he got some big minutes and scored well (I have no idea if either of those are sustainable though!

Im interested in how your team is shaping up mate, you always seem pretty on to it!

    Cheers mate, likewise!

    Currently looking at

    Macca
    Tolman Napa
    RyMatt Murray IPapa
    Cleary Morgan
    Bateman Bird
    Hughes Mansour DEdwards

    Egan Croft Stimson Haas
    Lomax EelsHalf NZHalf Ravalawa

But I’m really wavering on a few choices.

Hughes vs Moylan: H has talent, and is in a great team. But Storm have plenty fullbacks and don’t mind chopping folks. M has previous chops in FB, and is now running off SJ.

Bateman vs Tuala. B is a 2RF in CTR, but may actually get moved to CTR. And we’re not sure of his minutes. Tuala is a good young player in a hungry team, cushioned by 200k.

Tolman vs TPJ. It’s a toss-up. Guessing on team rotations in Doggies vs Broncs. I might well keep both, via Bateman.

Croft vs Mahoney. I’m again on the fence. Croft looked the goods in the final series, so I guess it’ll depend on Eels bench.

Cows: This team doesn’t include Meaney, Abbey, TMM, Guler, Staggs. And I like all of them.

This is my first draft team:

    McInnes
    Tolman / TPJ
    J.Trbo / Murray / IPapa
    Morgan / Chanel HT
    Bird / Lomax
    Teddy / Barba / Moylan

    Friend, Stimson, Haas, A. Hoppa,
    Allan, Egan, Salmon, Carrigan.

    Abt 35k left in bank

Let me know what you think.

Don't know if I should splurge more on halves.
    Is Barba worth it?
Dont know if Friend is worth 710k and If i should choose someone else.
    cheers

    Hello and Welcome

You were probably just nervous as it was your first post, but around here people normally say hello and use words like please and thank you. Edit: actually there is a cheers in there sorry! But anyway let's have a look.

Not a bad looking team really. Moylan has never been very fantasy relevant and your bench is rather weak but then a couple more cash cows could pop up between now and rd 1. I'm looking at the same halves pairing, risky yes but you've gotta save some money somewhere to fit guns in. Same goes with the centres I reckon. Barba, I don't know but could be gold. The cows early draw are tough teams but all played in Qld so he could runs rings around those who haven't trained in such hot weather.

Friend is the only glaring issue that I can see. He just doesn't have any upside.

An 80 min friend has upside - I have zero idea as to the likelihood of that, but he has done so in the past. At the same time he has burnt a whole lot of people by not playing 80. When thats the case you get really screwed. So if you are sure he'll play 80 then I think he a good buy. If not, I think there will be safer plays out there at hooker.

Pretty solid there Dan. The only concern with Matterson is whether he is well and truly past his concussion problems otherwise should be solid. And Gillett's been in and out of my team, I'm just concerned he comes back slowly or with reduced minutes etc. But really everyone of those picks could/should go well.

That’s a fair criticism. Here’s my wife’s team of unexpected players, with justifications.

Jazz.                              He’s an exciting player with good security and points upside
R.Sutton AFB.                 Sutton has mongrel rep, and could go well. AFB is a monsta.
Lane Leilua Goosie.         Lane in career best form in weak pack, Leilua will take JdB’s points, Goosie will take Lane’s spot
Peachey  KingGuth.         Tyrone is underpriced for a quality full-time half, KinG coming back from ACL.
Holland Tuala.                 Holland scored well without tries, Tuala too.
    Moylan Watson Hughes.   POD FBs.

    Radley.                           Lunatic
    Niukore.                         Monsta
    Carty.                             Talented risk
Croft.                             He’s actually good at League.

    Bird, Hunt
    Edwards, Morris, Lomax

Arrow, Stimson, Mahoney, Salmon/Brown, CHT, Egan, Haas, Ravalawa
