Haha, things move fast - yeah that was my post campaigning to get Havilli for this team. That extra $100 to $150k or so means we can afford a semi decent 18th man.

If you go back and have a look at that post you'll see I was a little conservative on what I think Deardon and Xerri will get us through to 17.

I personally think we can just sneak in with the cash we have - and yup, Brittain for me is a hold for the year, didnt take any money into account from him.

I think a team run that way would do better overall. This starting team was better than mine and I've already gone past it and I'm no better than the average person on here. Anything that takes away from the community aspect is a negative though, if it's about getting the best rank than we may as well just get Verbal to run it.

I haven't had the time to run the numbers on this team since about rd 8 but if there is a consensus that we've got the money leaving the Carty party early seems a no brainer.

Here's a slight modification on what I posted earlier. It incorporates the two trades we’ve already planned (Lawrie & Lomax to Havili and Brittain) + Carty to Bateman.  

We would currently have Smith, Fifita, Haas, Tolo, Murray, Reynolds, Nikora, Ponga, Teddy & Bateman who all look like keepers (that's 10). So we need another 7 guns plus an 18th man.

We’d need 10 trades to trade out the remaining players (don’t need to trade Brittain). That would leave 3 final trades for injury etc for the run home.

Cash in bank would be $640k

Value of those 10 trade outs = Rein ($705), Mahoney ($675), Taupau ($720k), Havilli ($470k), Sivo ($530k), CNK ($550k), AFB ($675k), Young ($420k), Xerri ($500k), Dearden ($450k) = ~$6m

Total cash to play with = ~6.65m

JTrbo ($750k), DCE ($875k), Cook ($945k), TTrbo ($765k), McInness ($830k)
Combined cost ~$4.15m

Leaves 2.5m for 2 guns, the 18th man, and 2 cash outs.


Let’s say we got Burns as 18th man $420k + 2x cash outs $250k each . We have ~1.6m for the last two guns. That’s enough to get pretty much anyone: Matterson + Milford for example (total cost $1.5m)

This shows that we have the money now – just, and can afford to go Carty to Bateman this week!

Final team could be:

Cook
Haas, Fifita,
JTrbo, Lolo, Murray
Reynolds, DCE
Bateman, Nikora
Teddy, TTrbo, Ponga

Cam, McInnes, Matterson, Milford

Burns, Brittain, cashout, cashout

But basically you could have anyone you want in the 17.

It's awfully close but as I'm trying to be more aggressive this year consider my vote changed. I rate Burns as 18th man as well, I've held the fucker this whole time.

Yeah man, definitely close. I've tried to be as realistic as possible with valuations. AFB's score last night was a real boost for us! IMO that has put us into a place where we can be relatively confident moving forward in terms of money.

Can we actually change votes?

Adding to RnT's analysis, if trades are tight we can keep Taupau as a scorer.

He's only a couple of points below whoever we replace him with in average, so far from worst case if he stays with us for the long haul

By the way, I take it we are summing the trade IN Bateman options and comparing against the dont trade in option? In that case we are currently tied. Only fair way I would have thought.

Also I agree with Krump that any changes we make should preserve the community aspect.

If 3-4 people want to create a WAGs team for another shot at overall glory then they can go and do that. Having everyone have a say is what's fun about the team.
Even if we don't win overall, we can still dominate the celebrity league every year.

Certainly we can play with how the voting/trades operate but I don't want it to become just an extra team for a few select people.
Only a handful comment much on the threads, but we get 20-30 people voting on trades each week and we should try and keep involvement up

If you look at the voting over the 3 polls including Bateman, if he starts at CTR I'd be inclined to wait a week.

Yes, it might see us with a logjam of tradeouts next week, but I'm not sure Bateman's CTR points are going to be spectacularly better and I don't think there is clear consensus to make the trade.

I think votes like this might work better allowing people to select multiple options and tick any they are happy with.

Some people may be happy ditch a non-scorer for Bateman, but not want to lose another R12 player for him, or not want to get him at the expense of Havili.

Can't tell people's intentions just from this vote. And I'm sure as hell not starting another poll on the topic.

I think if more people want him in than out (in this poll), that then reflects the previous poll too. We should go with that. Currently its heading that way if you take into account Krump's switched vote.

Catching up on 7 hrs + of Bateman posting now I've woken up.

His BE is high. I'm not clear on his role this week. Happy to wait.

For me this news means next week Young is back to the bench and we need to be ready to trade him (Tapine and Bateman are back). Maybe if Young goes to the bench he's a trade for Bateman. But otherwise I've voted hold this week
