It doesn't surprise anymore given the way the coaching merry go round works in sport nowadays. But given the Knights improved to How they look this year, it seems they are on track improvement wise, so odd to punt who got u there.

Yeah when I watched the interview I thought Ponga looks happy Brown is gone. He looked stupid when he made that gaffe when he said "got fired" then stumbled with his words to say "leaving". To me Ponga showed no empathy at all towards Brown & it's was almost as if he was glad he was fired, sorry leaving. Imo becoming a millionaire before he's 20 has turned Ponga into an prick/use to getting what he wants & maybe he was behind getting rid of Brown.

To me coach Nathan Brown from what I've read about him & whenever he speaks he comes across as a real nice bloke & probably too nice. Being a head coach you need a ruthless streak to survive. He would of known there was unrest with some of the players & he should of nipped in the bud. He got rid of Ramien, he should of got rid of the rest of the anti-Brown faction. Coaches like Bennett & Siebold would of been more proactive & would of gone after those that were trying to get rid of them.

His words and reaction definitely gave off the vibe that he had something to do with it.

Saying he was out have a strawberry thickshake when he heard the news and wasn't fazed was just stupid, smug and arrogant.

Not to mention when they asked what Brown had done for his game he didn't really say anything.

Maybe Ponga just needs some interview coaching so he comes across in a better light. He stumbled when asked how Brown has improved his game...he really had nothing & ended up saying...oh he gave me more responsibility. Ponga should of anticipated that question & should of had a response sorted out so he knew what to say. I remember years ago when D. Boyd never liked interviews & just gave 1 word answers to the media. It pissed the media off & I thought it was funny. But the Broncos obviously realised this & coached Boyd in how to respond in interviews.

Yeah, he didn't expect that question for some reason. When it was asked he was like 'woah, errr.....'

I think Ponga is just a different dude. He is way too chill and I don't think Rugby League ~actually~ matters that much to him. He's just loving life, playing some footy, might not play some footy in a couple of years.. who knows?

If I was getting paid the amount he is at his age, I probably wouldn't give a fuck about anything either haha.

He was like that in high school as well. Was just happy to go out and play sport... Was playing everything! He had contract offers in AFL, NRL, Cricket, Union and even Golf. Kid is just a freak and he probably knows it. Kind of hard not to become a bit too smug/cocky with yourself when your that good. He is only 20 and already being considered one of the best fullbacks/players in the game at the moment. We don't do much justice to these young stars coming through as the media blows them up to be "The Next Best Thing" after they dominate these kids who are 60KG or have a blinder for a debut. TPJ for example and a couple blinders and the media made him out to be better than Taumololo. Also clubs have more money these days so they can offer more money to these young stars because they know they can can get it. Look at Tim Hardaway Jr. in the NBA; hasn't really amounted to much, plays for the mavs. Earnings 71 mil over 4 years.... Tim Hardaway Sr was a superstar and gun of a player, earnt 46 mil over his whole career.

Exactly man. He's obviously very confident in himself, thats fine imo. He does heaps of great stuff with young kids, etc, I think thats more important than how you come across in interviews.

If Tolo plays I have a good 17 and can save my 2 trades to next week. I'm really hoping he's in cause I don't want to play Lomax against the Chooks. Still toying with Burns to The Fox too if I have to. Would rather see how Fifita goes and get him back in for the last 2 rounds if he's back to his best.

Ha they must’ve really spun it hard here: https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/08/21/nathan-made-me-the-player-i-am-now-ponga/

Makes him sound devastated that Brown is out the door.

Imagine if the Dragons hadn't had to deal with the whole JDB saga. 2-3 more wins over the season would have them pushing for finals.

Also goes to the point that there's not much between 2nd and 6th and then 7th and 13th.
It has a been a tight year with competition still going for top 4 and top 8 spots.
