I think we should open up the rule so we can select bench players as well

    I agree

I disagree on picking benched players. It inherently puts us at a money making disadvantage if you choose a total dud. Any super obvious picks we miss(like Lawrie) can be traded in early

I really enjoyed this last year!

Do we start with a simple vote for the position with the most consequence to the rest of our team:

    Haas or no Haas?

Plan will be to create the team say way we did last year

Everyone gets to vote for 21 cap compliant players, with weighted rankings for importance. Haas will no doubt attract a lot of votes, so we'll just have to see if he gets enough to get in on merits

Having separate votes for individual players in isolation I think creates the possibilities of issues down the track trying to fir other decisions around ones that have already been made.

My early prediction, having received precisely zero votes so far, is that we'll end up picking Haas and Taumalolo and squeezing in a bunch of middies and rookies around them. But we'll have to see how it goes, I could be way off in my assumptions on how people will select teams.

Thats how I expect it to go also, even though most will just have one or the other, their popularity will see both picked, and provide a different structure to the team than the templated team would.

I dont think so to be honest. I imagine most serious teams, and therefore the so called cookie cutter template, will have 2 guns. If what you guys suspect will be the case, then the community team structure will be very much like the template (IMO), only that the 2 guns will be Haas and Lolo as opposed to Haas/Lolo + Cleary/Moses which is what I am seeing a whole heap of teams are running. The rest will presumably be much the same, assuming people vote based on perceived value.... No??

BTW, with the whole bench vs starting thing, this implies we know who will be starting? or I guess that we are only voting after TLT? I dont think it matters to be honest, I highly doubt people that arent pretty much guaranteed a starting spot will get enough votes to get selection anyway, even if people are allowed to.

Also, @Milchcow could you just confirm if I have this right:

I chose a squad of 21 that fits in the salary cap, and then I give a weighting to each player in that 21?

Is the weighting 1-5? and is there a restriction on what the sun of the weighting comes to?

And we can edit as preseason moves on presumably?

    Cheers.

Will sort out rules over the next few days, but will be fairly the same as what happened last year

Squad of 21 players complies with cap/positional requirements, give them a score from 5 (most wanted) to 1 (least wanted) total points not to exceed 50.

Will open up voting next week, so that I can start collecting votes now and am not too rushed after TLT
But people will be able to change their votes if TLT changes their opinion.

Cut off for votes will be Wednesday night after TLT so I can concentrate on my own team on Thursday

    On starting/not starting

Guys like Walters, Magoulias, Musgrove, amongst others are popular in 'rate my team' threads, but are unlikely to start in round 1, so we should sort that out before voting as it will impact how some people structure voting

Forgot about Musgrove - surely we need to be able to select him.
