So is round 2 gonna be the last round? Im flat out in NZ dealing with our shit over here I've not been keeping up with OZ, but from a breif read, even if the power that be in the NRL are so blinkered they dont close down, surely they will be forced to by govt.
Is that how you guys are reading things?

Levi & Burns out ($1.45m), Cleary and Grant in. Might go left field and grab Yeo and Turbo... That would give me less CTR/WFB headaches whilst improving my scores.

I'd give a 2% chance of there being a Round 3 and 0% of a Round 4.

Silly ideas about player pay cuts being discussed. As soon as that happens they lose all good will from the players and the warriors head home. https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/120484034/how-much-longer-can-peter-vlandys-and-nrl-hold-out-with-coronavirus
Nrl’s best bet is to find an investor to come onboard. Someone like the owner of Toronto Wolfpack that could see them through this.

The government announced 'stage 1 restrictions' last night for non-essential services
NRL wasn't explicitly mentioned as non-essential, and the NRL seems to determined to continue until they are forced to by the government.
I really don't see how its possible with many states closing borders.
The question was asked 'what is stage 2' but no answer was given.
For most people the bigger question is schooling. Federal government says schools are to remain open. Victoria and ACT are closing from Tuesday anyway. NSW is apparently making an announcement today. if NSW says schools stay open we'll probably keep our kids home from tomorrow anyway. Mrs Cow is a teacher and doesn't want to be going to school any more

If we'd have all 'played nice' like ScoMo said, then he woudn't have had to take our toys off us - but we obviously couldn't do that so he's had to take them away.
I'm hopeful round 3 goes ahead

Wow, that guy sounds like a real dick.
Mind you, a manly supporter who delayed a lockdown to attend Hillsong, and his profession is as a marketeer.
Hardly shocking

Sharks supporter. Well actually, a union man from the eastern suburbs who decided to get into the footy because it was good for his local election prospects.

Ah my bad. Bad intel. If he really said that about toys and children, he’s lost me before I even know what team he supports!

Yeah, League players have so many other employment opportunities. I imagine Adam Blair spends most his free time turning down recruiters who are trying to get him into Google. Mitch Pearce could just walk into any number of jobs where he’d earn over 300k a year.

Yeah I thought AFBs comments about still getting paid even if the comp is suspended were off the mark. I get everyone has bills to pay, but surely they appreciate it's better to take a pay cut for the game to survive instead of getting paid for 2-3 months and then have no job at all lol
Blows my mind NRL funds each team 130% of salary cap and they still struggle.
Fkn poor management not maintaining a emergency fund...
And As much as V'landys is being dramatic and league-centric, I have more hope in the game surviving with him in charge than if Greenberg was, or the previous management.

The messaging around what is expected is mixed at best, so its no surprise peopl ehave not always been treating social distancing seriously.
ScoMo: Go to the footy
Australians : (go to footy)
ScoMo: No more crowds at footy
ScoMo: Just keep being Australians"
Australians: (Go to beach)
ScoMo: not like that

What percentage of a teams expenses is player salaries?
Serious question. They have to pay for a head office/training facilities, plus all the trainers/backroom staff, ground hire for whereveer they play home games. Travel and accommodation for a bunch of away games every year.
I imagine the non-wage bill racks up pretty quickly.

Not sure, I definitely get that running teams is an expensive exercise. But you would think if you had such a massive cost funded by the central body, you would be a lot more financially stable.
