Luciano saying his ankle pulled up sore the last couple days but had a good run today and it feels good. He said he will be sweet for this weekend.

Must have been that phone call I put into Madge ealier.

As a Pearce owner from last season for about 8 weeks, let me just tell you now - he will disappoint you eventually. His first three scores for me were outstanding, then he stunk it up for weeks after that. I don't see him continuing his good fantasy form.

Last year his big scores came from a massive try scoring run

He's getting 50s mainly through base (KM & tackles) so it looks sustainable

Also doesn't have threat of Origin this year, and was under injury cloud last year during Origin period

Tempted to get McInnes this round but the smart move may be to grab Cleary and bench Paix. Playing the BE game, it makes more sense to grab McInnes. I'm really confusing myself now Embarassed

Bring in as many of the big $ guns as you can (Teddy, McInnes etc) and likely not have so much cash to bring in keepers elsewhere.

Try and aim for cut-price potential keepers when they appear.

I'm not sure there's enough wiggle room to do both quickly.

Well shorter season, no origin and bleeding trades in CTR means cut price keepers are the go for me

For some new players they may find this handy

The more of these players you can get the less money you need to generate/milk from others, less trades too
And easy to jump off if something changes/injury, the only downside is miscalculating why they were cheaper in the first place (new role/injury/form/fluked some tries etc)

The thing is the sooner you get them in the more the point upgrade is worth overall over the season
Various people have shown the maths, but in simple terms a 5 pt upgrade for 20 weeks beats a 10pt upgrade for the last 5 weeks.

Paying full price for guns means you have to sacrifice/gamble elsewhere but you are paying for safety (Great for your Captain) and gambling on the cow that generally comes with it
Buy too many now though and if the cows don't fire then you might find it tough in the middle to get a decent team together

So I wouldn't chase the flavour of the month full priced gun each week, focus on improving the overall team gradually and they will come
The thing with moneyball is it doesn't matter how or where you get your points, its what you pay for them

If you want McInnes, get him now. Otherwise you'll be paying a shitload more, or waiting ages for a price drop that might take a long time to come.

Cleary is not as urgent, and there are more halves who score at an equivalent level that can be picked instead

You make a good point wrt equivalent halves. I think getting McInnes is the priority.

That reminds me, if you have Netflix, the movie Moneyball is a must see for Fantasy nuts. They take a Fantasy style approach to a real sports team.

    I may need a re-think.

EDIT: yeah nah there's no way I can get McInnes in. Goodbye season.

Read the book too, as well as Blind Side (by the same author, also a movie)

In fact almost anything by Micahel Lewis is great.

Do we think he maintains 80 minutes from here on out even with Hampton on the bench

I feel Robson proved he can play 80 last week. If they are planning to give him a spell Cotter would still be at 14. Hampton is there as injury cover. If Robson does blow out and need a rest then sure Hampton can sub him but I dont feel that would be a planned move
