It would be so refreshing to see NRL teams trying some of these previously unorthodox plays and experiment with the game a bit more.

Been done loads of times in rugby league over the years, not so much in recent times tho.

On that note, I don’t think most of the Walker Brothers gameplan would be wildly successful in the NRL. It worked for a season or so in QCup because it was novel. But it won’t take long when teams are expecting you to kick short every time to bring that 70% of kicks regathered down to 50% (or less since it’s easier when facing forward to the kick) and it suddenly becomes a huge liability. Their ideas about throwing the ball around and maintaining possession are probably apt, but isn’t that really just what the Roosters are doing? One man holds onto the ball and looks for a pass whilst everyone else is looking to hit holes at the same time.

I like the walker bros theories and im all about coaches doing things different. I think it gets a bit overblown at times tho. Throwing the ball around worked pretty well for them in q cup, but it isnt the NRL. You read their theories and it all sounds very exciting but watching the jets play wasnt ever that revolutionary.
I miss the old days with mouse trap plays and all those trick shots hah

It makes sense that the team kicking off should get 70% of the ball though. The receiving team has to cover the entire field. If they start only playing for the short kick off the kicking team just kicks it out on the bounce and gets it back. They should have at least double the numbers competing for the ball at the kick off, and know what the kick is going to be. In union it is much more common, no reason it couldn't be in the NRL.Pookus McFly wrote:On that note, I don’t think most of the Walker Brothers gameplan would be wildly successful in the NRL. Don't think they had near NRL quality players to pull it off. The higher the level of player ability, the more successful plays requiring skillful play should be.my tv broke wrote:I like the walker bros theories and im all about coaches doing things different. There’s a reason there are no coaches enticing throwing the ball around Every play and doing short kick offs consistently in the NRL. It’s doesn’t work at the top end of the game.

Not overly concerned. If he's out, I get HTF's score
Haha. Me too. In fact, if either he or Lomax are out I get stabbed with HTF's "score." Life on a knife's edge.

Odds Hoy comes on for Mann?
Happened a few times. Hasn't really affected his scores but if it's one thing to influence my trade decision better.

Sex Toy replacing Mann will be the death of us all. Terrible idea imo.

Kaide Ellis joining Dragons to bolster their forwards. Immediate transfer.
Just in case anybody needs another cheap low-minutes forward who rarely gets attacking stats.
That’s what everyone is into these days, right?
