Theyve now bought two players from outside the club because they didnt want to play Randall.

He isnt going to have a role unless there are more injuries. Mann will work up to near enough on 80 mins and AOB will continue to have player of utility value on the bench imo

If there is an option where you can field 17 and hold trades, that is your best go. Gonna have more of these carnage weeks towards end of season

I disagree, it seems to me that the only reason he's not playing this week is the HIA and at the very least he'll get 20 minutes off the bench with Mann at starting 9.

Fuck, maybe I should use my 4th trade to get in McIntyre in for Niu so I have centre cover. 3 trades left is pretty shaky though but at least I wouldn't have to use a trade if one of my centres gets injured.

Ikin said he has mail that Grant was out for the year but Benji was adamant it is only the week,thank god.

My planned move before today (lol I know) was to upgrade friend to Fifita, Hunt, Moses etc.

With HTF, Siro and hetherington all getting a run to give me 17 does this move still make sense or a bit reckless to trade out a healthy player?

Not saying don’t do it as ideally you want to cover every position with your bench and EMG

Having cover looks to be a key this year more than ever

There's this quote from AOB in Green announcement article, which probably backs up more what MTB is saying:

“It’s important to acknowledge that we have some very young and promising players but their development can’t be rushed and it would be unfair to heap unnecessary pressure on a young player at this stage of their career.

Yeah, you are probably right. I should hold the trade until I actually need it. Just not used to having no cover for a position but I just need to hope Crichton and Talau don't get injured or dropped.

Just a general comment - there isnt a lot wrong with playing a man short at centre for a week if it means you use a trade somewhere more worthwhile at some point (eg trading an injured gun to another gun who can give you 60+ points a week).

In any given week weve seen ctrs score poorly.. lomax just had a bad week. Talau has been lucky to save his score a few times, averillo has had one or two duds

If you look at it from the perspective of only losing 15 pts by playing 16 for a week, maybe you make those points back elsewhere

100%. Extremeish example but think a centre trade as a one week stop gap vs round 18-20 a big gun gets rested or injured and the points you would gain in replacing them

Yeah, good advice. I am fully expecting Talau (and Crichton, to a lesser extent) to get some really poor scores the rest of the year and I am just resigned to the fact that my centres are what they are. Since I am largely concentrating on H2H now, I need to keep trades for the knockout games if I need them.

Apologies if I repeat stuff that ever gets said, chaps, but this forum moves so fast I often miss big chunks here and there.

But I was just thinking about this Randall thing. I'm lucky enough to have cover this week, and 6 trades left means I've banned myself from trading for a couple of weeks, no matter how tempted I get.

So, I look at Randall and the thing that sticks in my head is Mann's injury concerns throughout this year. I like the kid and he's in my VSDT and SC teams and I never wish injury upon anyone, but it has crossed my mind that there is a chance that his injury finally flares up in his busy hooking role.

It's not anything I'd be banking on, but I need to hold Randall and it's a reason I might not be super hasty to trade him out unless one is stacked with trades.

Anyway, never a good thing to be factoring in possible injuries, but it's just something that's there for me.

4 trades left, can't field 17 as I have no WFB depth.

Is it really worth using a trade just to get someone at WFB to get me like 20 points for a week or two that somebody gets rested?

Or just take the hit for the week?

Best injured has really screwed my plans. I pray he is only out for 2 weeks because I'll hold him if so.

Su'A suspended for this week, failed at judiciary.

That may mean Kolomatangi starts in his place. Hopefully he doesnt go too well and displace Siro when Su'A is back haha

Weidler tweeted earlier that Best is seeing surgeon tomorrow, possible surgery, obvs nothing confirmed at this stage

Traded out Best & Grant for Smith & Munster (the logic being that I have enough in the bank to bring back Grant next week and Smith should get 80min).

I need Centre/WFB cover but with 9 trades and MITB I should be able to sort that next week...
