I've got Herbie as my back-up if Ponga is rested, not to bad as long as he's playing at CTR

Well TLT might throw in some curveballs but for now who is the best WFB 632k and under?

Edwards has a low score of 39 from 80 minutes at fullback. Slight chance he gets rested although Ivan doesn't seem inclined to do that.

Brimson has DPP and a favourable draw. Does have a dud score in him though.

CNK and Guth also options but that'd be more of a punt on match-ups than any actual reliability they'll outscore the first two.

I'm fucking spewing I'm 3K short on Lucy to Moses.  Tempted to burn two trades on Talau to Cotter if named and no Granville and Lucy to Moses.  Moves McInnes to second row and Cotter becomes hooker backup.  Seems silly with 3 weeks left though.

Lucy just looked over it to be honest.

In that range with 3 games left you are basically punting on which player is going to score the most tries over the next few weeks

Has a stinker in him like all wingers, but I'd like to throw up To'o in the Nofo mold. Pretty solid base in metres and tbs with 177 metres and 5 tbs per game this year plus similar numbers last year. Depending how hard Penrith chase the minor premiership he could end up with some solid attacking stats

I'd probably go with Edwards, but if you feel like a gamble To'o is an option

Welch out for whoever took the plunge. Plead no contest for his crusher, means he misses this week but incurs no carry-over points.

If Ponga is out, I trade Friend ---> Papenhuyzen and play 4x WFBs for the final two weeks. Easy.

I havent given this any real thought, but is the onset of spring meaning better conditions for exciting football, and bigger scores for WFBs etc ?

If Ponga is out I might leave him in WFB and chuck a loop on Herbie and Cotric. Then hopefully Randall gets a gig this week. If that is the case I might hold the trade and leave my bench Koro, Lucy, Moses, Randall with Teddy, Pappy, Herbie/Cotric at WFB.

    My WFB's this week scored 108, 75, 103 = 286... that is more than my FRF and 2RF combined: 33, 58, 48, 66, 44 = 249.

Never would I thought I would see the day.

It was always a chance Ponga and/or Teddy get a spell in the run home

I did "plan" for this - was going to bring in Douiehi as a 17th/18th man. Then the Black Widow got me with his injury. With all my other CTRs being dodgy (McIntyre, BLee, Talau) I pivoted to Hoppa. Who is technically WFB cover but 100% needed to start at CTR each week.

My "plan" also involved having more than 1 trade at this stage lol

Anyway, if Ponga doesn't play I'll be running both McIntyre and BLee rather than looping them (assuming TLT is similar to last week). Vast majority will be in a similar position with players like HTF and Averillo. If you have the trades left to do something better, then it could be huge.

Got eliminated ages ago but still following your weekly writeups. Pretty evenly matched final four

I can’t remember but I think I was watching or reading something recently that mentioned Ryan Papenhuyzen has only played 38 NRL games. That is crazy to think he is producing the types of performances likened to Teddy and other top fullbacks at his age and after only 38 games and technically only 1 pre-season as the main fullback for the side. I am so excited to see what he can become and how he develops over the next 2-3 years as he starts to enter his prime years. An extra 3-4 kilos maybe to adapt even more of a tackle busting game. Add in there some ball playing and follow up play and he can take that leap. Hope we can lock him down long term as a marquee player. Munster, Papy, Hughes, Grant/BSmith and chuck in a decent forward pack and we might see some more good years from the Storm.

This is the best possible team from R17, courtesy of the Lone Scout article this morning. I valued added the total at the end!

As well as being a high scoring round, it shows how it was a high scoring round for fantasy relevant players. Normally these 17s bear no resemblance to a real fantasy side - they'll be random backs and other players that aren't highly owned in them - whereas this time only Lachlan Lewis looks out of place and I could see sides having up to a dozen players here (I had 7 and was slightly below par for the week)

Round 17 team of the week
    Kalyn Ponga (108)
    James Tedesco (101)
    Tyrone Peachey (64)
    Kotoni Staggs (61)
    David Nofoaluma (80)
    Lachlan Lewis (90)
    Daly Cherry-Evans (74)
    Payne Haas (93)
    Damien Cook (68)
    Moeaki Fotuaika (83)
    Mitch Barnett (70)
    Ryan Matterson (66)
    Cameron McInnes (90)
    Ryan Papenhuyzen (75)
    Adam Doueihi (69)
    Jamal Fogarty (68)
    Nathan Cleary/Mitch Moses (67)
TOTAL: 1327 (1435 with Captain Ponga)

He's already getting a lot more involved ball playing wise, especially on the left. Only worry is his size, still gets dominated in a lot of contests - extra few kgs would be huge for him.

I understand why some did at the time but I'm really glad I never traded him. He's averaging just under 50 PPG for the season now, and priced 75k higher than his starting price, even with the magic number dropping significantly.

You wouldn't know it from the scores our fantasy teams put up, but R17 was not a high scoring round.
10196 fantasy points this round, well down on the post restart average of 10348, making it the 12th highest scoring round this year

Just seems that all the big fantasy scores were concentrated into popular fantasy players

edit: this is by the new scoring standard with the set-restart rules changes brought in post-lockdown. Basically every week since round 3 has seen more fantasy points than any week in any preceeding season.

Yeah same, I was going to trade him back in round 7 but E Katoa was injured so I sold him first. Papy then got 87 that week and after that I had no thoughts of selling him. Helps that he's my favourite player in the NRL, bar none.
