Sportsdeck VSDT 2021 Part 1

Ryan James cost me the weekly last week with his HIA and now with an almost identical weekly score, I reckon SST's rib injury will cost me again this week.

Not that I am complaining one bit because it's almost impossible to dodge injuries at the moment (particularly HIA's) and the 5th last week and whatever I get this week has really helped me get back to around the Top 200.

Probably going to get Ponga in this week, or wait a week and see how Turbo goes. Or both. Having to play Simmo for his 6 last round just irked me because I had been having a bumper week. At least the trend is upwards though. Some of you guys are killing it!

Yep got 3rd for the week and being 17 points down, fair to say SST cost me....at least it was to a fellow member in Aardvark.

FYI for those feeling like they are already too far back, I've had two good weeks in a row and I have gone from ~500 to 33rd - not to mention, I'll probably be back around 500th in a couple of weeks.

The point is, it's a bloody long season and we still haven't even had a bye...or the inevitable Origin + end of season injury carnage!

I’m thinking of bringing in Ponga as well (have both Latrell and Papy out). But his next 3 fixtures are super tough... it is Ponga however and can get a good score against anyone.

Jeezus wept, I sweep over my teams three times a week and it only just struck me, at 4:49pm on Thursday afternoon, that I only have two starting WFB. Really, really wanted to get Ponga but getting Turbo allows me to turn Riki/Niu into Turbo/Tohu. I don't know if it's humanly possible to decline such an offer.

I ended up grabbing Turbo for the sole reason I can then do decent upgrades next week. You get the best of both worlds for sure

Check out the guys at the top of the leaderboard - this is the time many will back some big inroads in the leaders. Red dots galore in many of the top ranking teams. I reckon many of us will halve our rankings this round!!

Gonna be fascinating to see the scores of the top ranking sides this week? I suspect 900+ will see significant jumps in rankings. I also think some of those in the top 50 might even score in the 600s...

Just checked in on this team after a weekend away:

Played TKO (0), new recruit Tohu (0), played Brooks (15) on my bench over Walker (63) and Teddy (6) and Isaako (10) in starting side too.



Not exactly sure how the AE works in this format, but I assume I collected a Stefano and Fui's excretion scores for Tohu and TKO? Or do I get Asiata's 0?

As an aside, didn't read the commentary on that GIF before posting, but brings back some memories. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in my entire life than when I was a little kid watching that scene for the first time ever. I have the memory of a boiled turnip, but I remember almost dying from laughter when that hit my screen for the first time.

You get 1 AE only, and its the lowest positive score from your NPRs regardless of position. So Stefano's 24 (unless you had someone else play and score lower)

Cheers mate - just the one VSDT for me. Was right about one thing last week, my ranked exactly halved Sitting 35th

Like my team, and went a little out of the box last week trading Pappy out (maybe works out if he is in fact out 2 more weeks), but presumably like all of us, have some firs to put out.

Any thoughts on Klemmer v Lucy v Barnett v TPJ??

Wow, that hurts. Harsh too. Guess one needs to keep on top of the team over the weekend. Amazing how one or two weekends away can really ruin these teams. The guys who win these fantasy related comps must have all their holidays and weekends away through the off-season.

Thanks for the BEs too. That'll come in handy this week for sure.

Hard to split them really. I agree with the posters in the fantasy thread that Klemmer probably doesn't play origin. He has the highest floor and lowest ceiling of the four. TPJ is more boom/bust. Lucy and Barnett somewhere in the middle in terms of risk/reward. In a similar range you could consider McGuire, Fotuaika (back to the bench presumably when Tino returns, but big role in R13 assuming Tino and Fifita play origin), or JFH. To'o is a great shout.

Thanks man. It does help. My tentative plan involves bringing in Klemmer & Lucy before Rnd 13, although things could change and there are other options, as you say. Hoping also to bring in a WFB (Edwards/Brimson/To'o) and a half (prob Moses), also for 13.

My strategy for VSDT has always been to go hard for 13 and try and get close to 17 players. Then suffer in 17. Simple reason is, rnd 13 is closer than 17 so easier to plan for.

Tend to agree with Jele but I am a little concerned with Klemmer's recent drop in mins (with the earlier big min games being largely a result of injury) and although interested by Lucy, to me he is even more boom/bust than TPJ.

We have a very, very similar team RnT but I am still carrying Latrell and am torn about bringing in To'o or whether I wait 1-2 weeks and bring in Walsh or Teddy (at the lowest price he will likely ever be).

Speaking of Teddy - lesson learned (and something I should have already learnt many, many times before)....I foolishly taunted the fantasy gods on the weekend by cheering a reverse POD decision, when Teddy went off for his HIA.

Next thing I know, RTS gets shunted to the wing to accommodate an unproven debutant and scores a miserly 13 more points than Teddy.

Don't tempt fate.
