The Warriors hope to find out next week whether Jahrome Hughes will join the club from next season.
The 26-year-old Wellingtonian is in the final year of his contract with the Storm and the Warriors have targeted him as one of their key acquisitions for life after Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
The Warriors have reportedly made an offer of $800,000 a season for the Kiwis international, which will still leave them with $300,000 available from the money Tuivasa-Sheck was on.
Other NRL clubs have pulled out of the race to sign Hughes, realising they can’t match the money the Warriors can offer and Stuff understands he could decide as early as the beginning of next week whether he’ll join the Warriors.
If he does, Hughes is open to playing either fullback or in the halves and that would give Warriors coach Nathan Brown a couple of ways to go with his team selection.
