Your kid's school only has 6 hookers?

We need to increase funding for public education.

I still have very high hopes for Croft. He showed so many glimpses of just what he can be. That WCC game he played before the 2018 season was amazing! He has also shown his potential a number of times in the NRL, so it is not like he had/has a one game flukey performance. The skills and game is there. Still only 23 years old he seems like he needs a bit of defensive training and some confidence to go along with a full year of footy to get him on the right foot. I hope he can find a place somewhere... Tigers, Roosters (to an extent), Warriors could all be good destinations who need an out and out 7.

When I watch him play lately it just seems he has this huge chip on his shoulder and so much pressure on him to do something amazing. Would love to see him get his head right and just play his game. I feel he could really suit the Broncos system with guys like Riki, TPJ, Haas, Carrigan, Staggs and Milf around him.

The problem is that I somehow doubt there will be a single game this season with all those players on the field at once.

Warriors are expecting to have an answer from Hughes this week on whether he will sign with them on $800k/year to play in the halves.

The wiener kids reference had me laughing at my desk for a solid minute.

You make some good points. I am/was convinced he is awful but I'd be happy (and hope) to be wrong about that.

Croft is a bit of a scapegoat among Broncos fans, myself included. The funny thing is, is that Dearden hasn't done much yet, but because he's been hyped as future star, everyone is all about him (including myself). Dearden's only 19, a bit of time to really develop his game (and actually own a side) in Q CUP wouldn't be bad for his long term future.

I've been convinced that Milford should play as the '7' since around 2018. Walters moving him to the right side this year will effectively do that, I hope. Whoever partners him should be second fiddle in our game plan.

Dearden gets injured quite a bit as well...he needs to get stronger but he's young so he probably will.

Wouldn't be the first talented half to not crack the grade because of weak mentality and certainly won't be the last. I think he has done his dash

Someone made a good point on Facebook. When forwards aren't getting the team on the front, halfbacks are more often than not the scapegoat. It is hard for a halfback to do his job when he is constantly trying to get his team out of trouble and I feel that was the Broncos in 2020. Dearden has shown he has a pretty smart head on his shoulders and would also fit in.

On Milford I just can't see him as a 7? His running game is his best asset.

Whether it be Broncos or any other team I just wanna see Croft cement a spot in the NRL.

Rumour is that's done with Melbourne signing SJ for 2022. If true, that would be pretty amazing for the Storm *in my opinion*

not necessarily a traditional organiser eg cronk, but a role where he is hands on the ball in first receiver more often than not. his running game can flow off the back of that. dearden or croft could be the steady half but 'second fiddle'.

his long and short kicking game is far superior to croft/dearden, we need to use that, moving to the right will help.

he played this kind of role in the second half of 2018 and really started to own the team. it fell away in the finals but i saw that as his future. then 2019 and beyond happened.

I do not want SJ. He will 31 turning 32 next year... and has a similar playing style to Munster and we don't need two Munsters. If I were Storm I would be doing everything possible to keep Hughes. We have to remember he played FB all through his juniors and has only really had 1 year at halfback and killed it.

Yeah that is true. His kicking game is one if his better assets. Not sure if just my opinion but I do find when the Broncos are on the back foot Milford finds himself just chucking up bombs at the end of every set rather than going for field position.

My partner and her family are Broncos supporters so I just hope for her sake they can improve this year and actually show some promise for the near future.

that's true, need to be better there. that's been a broncos problem for a long time. Hunt used to do the same thing, as does every other half that fills. We (my group of mates) call it the "broncos bomb".

Just wanted to quickly say thanks for everyone's contribution to the forum again this year. Some really insightful and enjoyable reading. Apologies I haven't been able to contribute as much this year as I would like (my wife gave birth to our twin boys less than a month ago so we've been a tad busy!)
Looking forward to a ripper season with you all.

SJ is a completely different player now to a few years ago. Much closer in style to Cronk than Munster.

Hughes is good but $800k is way overs. Nicho Hynes is also still around (and good. What halfbacks don't look good in the Storm system? Except Croft.)

Yeah I'm running with Hoy, while keeping an eye on which rookie WFB is going to be a bolter in the early rounds so I can trade Hoy for one of those.
IE: Laurie may not start FB in round 1, but might get the gig in round 3...

I'm thinking ok going with Hoy, but leaving $200k ITB for an upgrade to Doueihi if Ponga returns early - any gains Doueihi might make in the first month should be more than offset by Hoy's.
