I was keen on him until I saw his tackle count. Isn’t a work horse at all never has been. But he will have big games with his tackle breaks and tries but in quiet games he isn’t going to score too well. Fine if we’re for the season but with Fin and Grant back soon I couldn’t take the risk

He actually played the middle period of the game. Was doing well the first few minutes, then the game was all played around the edges with lots of tries being scored. Came off after just 17 minutes, then back on again in the first half. Thought they might have put him back on again at the end for a 3rd stint. His fitness will improve with game time in his legs.

Really tough first 3 rounds for the storm, Eels next week, then Panthers. Toughest starting draw.

May all be true but it will still be tough to hold onto him next week. Will be plenty of juicy options around his price.

If Paulo got huge minutes and showed he was fit, I may look at him, as the 22nd guy I wanted, but trying not to jump into trading round 1 unless a player is injured or didn't get the role I had expected. Starting lock with 46 minutes in game 1 is within range for expectations of NAS.

Entertaining first game. I dug. Only had Pappy and Munster, so happy with the result. Tad concerned about Munster's second half effort and I hope he's a bit more spirited in coming matches... but 'tis of course just round one.

Lesson of the night for me is that Latrell is as frustrating to watch as a non-owner as he is as an owner. Massive game, and he makes himself very tempting, but like a few others said, it shouldn't really surprise that he does this and the question is, as always, what he does next week. I'll see how the round plays out before I try to acquire him next week. It does kind of look like he's come into the season with a fresh mindset, but I can think of a dozen times I've thought that in the past too. Fuck he's a frustrating human.

Arrow's PPM incredible. I'm tempted too, but as also noted, that likely not sustainable. Definitely looks appealing, though.

Elsewhere, bit bummed I made a last minute swap in SC from Welch to NAS. Wrong bet.

And what an early treat Cook's score is. Not so much in Draft where I picked him up, but that price drop will make things interesting.

Anyway, good to see the footy back. Good action.

A great example of a player getting the round 1 role expected, but a lower score than wanted was Twal in 2019. Got 49 minutes as starting prop, but only 35 points, after showing he was a PPM beast the season before. Some actually traded him out at the end of the round. That 35 was his lowest score of the season, averaging 51 points as starting prop.

Correct, and noticed there was barely any new rules let alone 6 again.
Part of the reason people don’t need to freak out, the refs are slow starters too

People need to look at their starting team as a bit of a template and adjust over the next few weeks.
Jut take a breathe and wait until the end of round, knowing there will be trades
That’s without even throwing some injuries in there

Wouldn't be that disappointed if I had Host. Played middle for most of what I saw which is an issue though

Ill timed 5 a side game tonight so missed it all!

Would have been outraged if the Welshman had ended up with Latrell and I didn’t (Milfs definitely gonna get 90 now!).

I thought Arrow was going to be eased in off the bench so I could pick him up later....did anyone tell him that? Everyone else scoring and game time looks about as expected, maybe Koala got a few more mins (in the middle or on the edge?)

Looks like it might have been an entertaining game.

Edit: I meant Kami not Koala and looking at that bench maybe not a surprise....I thought Smoothy was made up

Normally you want your edges playing in the middle, Harris and Crichton as prime examples.

The problem with Host is that a 35 point player is really all he's going to be IMO.  Wayne loves rotating his edges and Murray and Arrow need to be on the field as much as possible.  I'm sure he'll get some bigger scores, but I think a bench filler is all he'll be.  Not sure how much coin he'll make either.

I have tried a few times! Don't worry about the missis though she can stay in Wales, I can't leave my rugby team behind Laugh 3

Great to have round 1 underway. Didn't get to see the match and didn't have any players. Congrats to all who had Munster, Pappy and Latrell. Hope I get some of that feeling as the weekend unfolds.

Someone already talking Smith to Arrow. I thought Brandon Smith looked really good. His scooting will end up getting some tackle busts and line breaks. None out there today, but role good for now
