Yeah, already loved him as a player through my teenage years, but he's my uncles best mate and got to hang out with him various times 10 years ago around my uncles wedding and other events. Stayed off the drink about 40 weeks of the year, was a cracking bloke anyway but he was in rare form after he had a few.

Mine of the current playing has to be Dale Finucane, shit he has a big impact on the Storm's forward pack and often overlooked with the big 3 they had.
In the last 20 years (Not old enough to go further back sorry) I'm gonna go with an outside pick and say Michael Luck. He was such a workhorse and never got the accolades he deserved in an at times mediocre Warriors team

The entire 1992 Illawarra Steelers team, especially:

Rod Wishart - criminally underrated these days for a guy who played 20+ Tests and 20+ Origins. Basically I see him and Mick Hancock are the prototype for the modern winger making all the early tackle count hitups. Did all the little things right. He was also always in perfect position all the time - attack and defence. One of the best goal kickers of his era from a sideline... and maybe one of the worst a little closer in haha. He also had tremendous quads. His son is now playing 5/8 in NSW Cup for the Dragons.

John Simon - basically the 1990s version of Adam Reynolds if Reynolds was a better tackler

Neil Piccinelli - if fantasy existed in the 1990s... tackles for days, could offload, occasional goal kicker!

Ian Russell - my favourite player as a 9 year old. An outstanding creative lock, a role that disappeared but is maybe coming back?

Brett Rodwell - used to work for the Steelers as the liaison officer and come to your school once a year to run a clinic.

Anyway this has been your Friday afternoon deep dive into my primary school years in Wollongong.

I really need some cash injection. 37K ITB.

Anybody have any ideas? Thinking of axing Hoy and playing Laurie/Bailey S

    Thanks in advance...

Problem with your side is 18-21 being all backs. If they don't score for a few weeks you will be left behind in cash generation. While the mid/edge cash goats will be steadily increasing. But who knows they could go on a tear and put you in a good position.

I'd probably downgrade someone in your 17 and bring in davey this week. And make sure you have cash to jump on the best cows

Mate if I were you I would trade Hoy out to Leniu (> cash generation over the next 3 weeks when you'll have to trade out Hoy anyway but can keep Leniu who will make more cash) and play Laurie in his place. Nice team!

Setting my Hoy/Niu loop line at 32. Anything under I play Niu.

8 in play tonight, 7 on field. 107/2 so far, aiming for 430/9 tonight.

Oh no you described me to a tee.

I had Elijah Taylor in my team a few years back and I greatly enjoyed watching a guy make 60+ tackles more than any sane person should.

Didn't particularly like the Steelers at all (hated Wishart) but I did love watching old Johnny Simon.

Something about those natural playmakers e.g. Cliffy Lyons, Jason Smith and Simon that was just so good to watch.

It's possibly why the structured playmakers of today shit me to tears.

So was all the preseason talk about Watson starting at lock just complete bullshit? I don't get why they name him there and bench him after saying he was gonna start at lock? I understand that the weather plays a part but it's just a weird scenario

What happened to Keenan Palasia? He had a pretty serious injury at the start of last year but didn't he have some wraps coming through the grades

Playing QCup another victim of no state league last year.

Could snag a bench spot if we have a few injuries but don't see him cracking through.

Did you see how effective he was last week? Wouldn't even be mad if he played 50 mins each week off the bench as an owner.

Nah I'm not really that mad because even off the bench he is productive, just curious as to why they are benching him after talking him up

The plan is the same either way, just 50 minutes in the middle. Doing it from the bench early days to ease him back into the intensity after a pretty serious injury last year, plus because he's an amazing player to inject after 25-30 minutes when everyone is gassed. I'm sure he'll end up starting once he's 100% confident in his body.

Not worried about Watson but could do without the fuckery, especially when we didn't get a proper look at what his minutes off the bench mean last week because of the injury in the halves.

Likely still building his fitness, been out for ages. You want Watson on at end of games especially if it’s tight because he’s unpredictable, so better to bring him off bench whilst his match fitness builds so you don’t have to use 2 interchanges bringing him off then back on if AoB isn’t confident he can last the game

For draft but would you play Watson or Koroisau? Surely Koro but risky if he gets taken off again if they get a big lead
