I can't imagine what the odds of New Zealand being the inaugural World Test Champions would've been a few years back, but it's an incredible feat.
Somehow made even better to see Williamson and Taylor guide us home. Outstanding!
How good aye!
Im of an age lucky enough to have caught some of the Hadlee era, which was a good time to be a NZ cricket fan, but this is honestly something I never expected to see growning up. Obviously in recent years it has become apparent that this team was something special, but to beat Inida in a final is top stuff!
There is such amazing quality in the team though - from the depth we now have, through to the numerous world class players. In history, NZ have typically had one or two at any one time, but presently, with Williamson, Taylor, Boult, Southee, Wagner - and the recent addition of Conway and Jamieson, it really is a crazy good side (not to mention other class players like Latham & Watling).
A nice note for BJ to retire on - kid looks mid twenties still, cant believe he is 35. Im also picking Ross will retire from Test cricket in this note too. Even still, with Blundell and Young ready to step in, I ssupect this team continues on at, or near the top of the cricket rankings for some time to come!
Choice!
