    wolfking wrote:Still toying with the best way to go.  My ranked has dropped to around 1800 so whatever I do doesn't mean shit now but here's my 17 this week;

    Watson
    Haas Tolo IPap
    Crichton Fifita
    Trindall DCE
    Manu Bird
    Hynes Walsh Ted

    AFB CHN Burton Verrills

    Brailey Peach Laurie Fog

    3 trades and 65K.  My two options now are;

    CHN - Blore
    Fog - Cleary

Seems like a no brainer if he plays.  Means Manu would have to shift down and Hynes as a backup, or next week use my last trade on Hynes to Ponga/Mitchell.

    My second option is to skip Cleary and add more depth.  Still liking from what I posted yesterday;

    Fog - Ponga
    Laurie - Avo

Gets rid of a red dot and at least I get some good depth for the last 5 weeks.  Means CHN and Hynes probably stay or can trade one next week.

Any thoughts good people, it's 50/50.  Ponga and CHN playing before Cleary really fucks with everything.  I could hold and play 17, but won't have the swing to do the Cleary trades next week.

Thinking with the ranking, Cleary has to be the all in play.  Could wait and trade Hynes to Cleary instead of CHN but Hynes' DPP more handy than CHN.  But saying that, CHN might be more handy as a player than Hynes.
Really tough call mate but in a season with so much  carnage maybe it’s better to have that better depth.

Reckon I’m too late on Haas?

Can go something like CHN+Hynes to Haas+Cook/Mahoney/Grant

    Or

    Hynes+Cheese/Watson to Cleary+Blore

Don’t usually have much trouble deciding these things, but up against the Mrs in H2H so a bit of pressure!

Thanks for the thoughts mate. It does seem having the depth is the smarter, conservative play, but Cleary is Cleary. Even with Cleary, I'd still only have the one red dot in Laurie, but a few spuds.

The thing is if we bring Cleary in and captain him he locks in. If he doesn’t play this week there’s no guarantee he plays next week either

I reckon go all out with Cleary. It's not like your depth is terrible as is. Your bench this week would be, what, AFB/Trindall/Burton and use Laurie as a loop for 2 of Verrills/Peach/Blore, with Brailey to come back in? That's fairly solid and not many teams will have both DCE and Cleary.

I'm not sure you need Avo anyway with the way he's scored recently and Bird, Burton and Manu already in your team.

Thanks mate, that's a great breakdown and reasoning. Yeah, the safe options speads things but also makes it look a bit thin. I think I'm writing off Blore in my thinking whose quite playable if last week is anything to go by. With my rank, there's really no point playing conservatively. Just have to decide who goes, CHN or Hynes. That WFB cover though with Hynes is the kicker but if he becomes the super sub from the bench, kinda means shit.

My thoughts with Avo was he was Lewis and Flanno gone probably for good. But he still plays for the Dogs.

Panthers are normally pretty good with the news that comes out of camp. There have been comments both from Luai and the coach over the past 1-2 weeks that Cleary is running in training drills, doing ball work etc. plus the time frame fits in with AC joint injuries... If he isn't on the park this weekend I place no doubt that he will be there next week.

I guess the risk re Cleary is that the risk of re injury rate is quite high with this kind of injury. It’s a high risky for potential high reward play but if it backfires and you have no trades left you have to be prepared that you could lose lots of ranks.

I don't think Cleary is any more at risk than any other player who can get injured at any time truthfully. Sure the chances are there, but injuries can happen to anyone at anytime.

I traded To'o back in as he seemed almost bulletproof and whammo, out for six weeks.

I've pulled the trigger on Fog to Murray. Leaving me with one trade and a team of 21 green dots.

    Cook
    Haas/Crichton/Watson
    I'Pap/Fifita
    Cleary/DCE
    Olam/Bird
    Teddy/Tommy/Latrell

    Mahoney/Hughes/Murray/Doueihi
    Walsh/CHN/Niu/Chambers

    Rank of 2870 - wouldn't mind a top 2000 finish.

Clearly last 5 game average is 105.  I think that's the only stat I need.  I will add average of 487 kick metres for those 5 games.  Hi record breaking game only had 266 kick metres.

Also in the run home Panthers face the Dragons and the Tigers. Hasn't played either of those teams yet this year.

Great team, should be ranked higher. I reckon Cleary gets you the top 2000 mate, easily.

I'm inclined to hold Hynes in case Hughes is ruled out.

It's just people trying to convince themselves they'll be ok without him. I'd being doing the same if I could afford him or didn't have the trades. Don't let it distract you mate.

I was tossing up a similar dilemma yesterday about to Cleary or not to Cleary. Ultimately I've concluded that if you have a decent 18th in case he doesn't play, it's worth bringing him in with the (c).

The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards bringing in Cleary this week.

Hynes > Cleary would leave me with:

    Cook
    Haas iPap Crichton
    Fifita Schuster
    Cleary DCE
    Avo Bird
    Turbo Teddy Ponga

    Jackson Walsh McCullough Fogarty

    Burton Blore Verrills Ramsay

That would leave me with 289k itb to probably bring in Pappy next week with my 2nd last trade and have 1 trade for the run home.

We're pretty similar. I'm sitting with 2 trades left and looking at Fog to Murray also. Think I may hold though for injuries this week or next and a few extra bench options for the Bunnies may push Murray's minutes down a bit?

Think I'm on board lads. I'm not sure if I'll do it tonight and C him as I really can't split CHN or Hynes. At least tomorrow I get to see if CHN somehow starts again. Flip side is, Hynes' coverage will be more useful to me.

I'm having a look at what I would need to do to get Cleary back in, and here's my situation. Thoughts on what to do?

Option A: Not get Cleary, go Bunt to Grant and hold my last trade for dear life

Option B: Trade Bunt to Cleary, funded by CHN to a hooker 419k or less (likely Starling), or a different position if I'm willing to run with just Watson and Verrills at hooker with 0 trades left which would be extremely dangerous.

Pre-trades, I have 2 trades left and 191k in the bank, with the following team:

    Bunt
    Haas, Ipap, Angus
    CHN, Fifita
    DCE, Moses
    Bird, Avo
    Teddy, Turbo, Doueihi

    Watson, Schuster, Walsh, Norman

    Harper, Verrills, Schoupp, Berry
