Went out for lunch at the local on Freedom day. Wife has been stood down took NW Jr out of home schooling, it was by boooking only, no walk ups so had it booked 2 weeks ago. Rock up and every table has a booking on it with name number of guests and time. 1/2 the tables were no shows and clearly hadn't had the decency to cancel. After 106 days of lockdown, that's a dog act.

A lot of places here last year were taking deposits for bookings due to fear of this.
100% have the decency to call and cancel.
Hospo need the money and you're also blocking someone else from that booking.
Also never agreed with the aussie sayings "What a dog" "you're a dog" "That's a dog act" etc.
Dogs are fucking loveable and loyal and would die for us.
More like a cat act. Those fuckers don't care for anything but themselves.

In other news, Ash Taylor has signed a train and trial deal with the NZ Warriors
I'm struggling to recall a time when any player has ever gone from a Million-dollar contract straight to a train and trial? (especially given no bad behaviour issue)
I hope with the pay-packet expectation removed that we start seeing the potential come through.

Given Johnson's injury history I'd say we're going to need a good back-up half so he'll be fighting for that role.
Good business for the club and hopefully Ash can get back to somewhere near his best.

Dogs also not good with the comms/booking systems so maybe appropriate in this case
Another one is 'Sick as a Dog'....dogs generally throw up, gobble it back up and carry on like nothing has happened

Read a good theory about the Dolphins somewhere (can’t remember).
News Ltd want more Broncos games exclusive to Fox/Kayo, which means a 2nd Brisbane team for Ch9 to choose from.
But News Ltd are still majority owners of the Broncs
So the way to get A without damaging B too much is having the bid from the established suburban club in Brisbane’s north be successful, rather than either of the bids representing the expanding growth areas to the west of the city.
Slightly tinfoiling but also seems possibly legit…

I did some quick math and it means you can't have the bye round where everyone has the week off. It becomes a 26 round comp with 3 rounds of 6 games and 5 byes. That gets everyone 2 byes but it's only 10 extra games. So it would be something similar
EDIT: Found my error
26 rounds
3 bye rounds
2 7 games / 3 byes
1 6 games / 5 byes

Not so sure even his best was that good. Always seemed over-rated.filthridden wrote:

Taylor had huge talent and huge wraps on him at a young age. He was junior kangaroos halfback at one point.
Since he started in first grade at the Titans, I don't think he had a real halves mentor and that may have stifled his development along with the culture at the GC.
Normally I'd say Warriors are the last club a player should come to if they're having issues developing but if he's training with and potentially being mentored by Shaun Johnson then he could get back on track to being a quality first grade halfback (I don't think anyone is expecting him to be a world beater anymore).

I was having a quick think about the structure and expecitng something like this
17 teams with 2 byes each = 34 byes
Odd number of teams means atleast 1 bye round per week for 25 weeks = 9 remaining
Structure of either 3,3,3 or 5,3,1 means there won't be many "big" bye rounds

It’s gonna be 26 weeks, so it only 8 additional byes, which is only 4 games short of having full rounds

17 teams
26 rounds
204 games (max of 8 games/round)
34 byes (min of 1 bye/round, must be an odd number)
System 1 (as outlined by NW)
23 rounds with 8 games (184) and 1 bye (23)
2 rounds with 7 games (14) and 3 byes (6)
1 round with 6 games (6) and 5 byes (5)
No. of "big" bye rounds (i.e. more than 1 bye) = 3
Total games = 184 + 14 + 6 = 204
Total byes = 23 + 6 + 5 = 34
System 2 (I think this was used by the NRL in 1999)
24 rounds with 8 games (192) and 1 bye (24)
2 rounds with 6 games (12) and 5 byes (10)
No. of "big" bye rounds (i.e. more than 1 bye) = 2
Total games = 192 + 12 = 204
Total byes = 24 + 10 = 34

My 2nd jab last Friday led to me being extremely tired the whole of Saturday, like never b4, but that was it. Sunday I bounced back to normal.
That Taylor deal sounds like just what he needs.

A mate of mine knows Taylors uncle pretty well, and this essentially what his uncle told him a while back. Keep in mind his uncle is probably biased to protect/side with his nephew but he believes the Titans threw him in at 7, expected him to be a star, but with no real support/mentoring/etc. Taylor didn't cope well early on with being away from home/etc.
Apparently was on a fair bit less than a million dollars as well.
