    My current thinking:

    PAULO
Pros: left-side Souths - which scored a gazillion tries last year. DPP is handy.
Cons: might not be that good, maybe not that much job security. Don't actually need cover at CTR

    COATES
Pros: plays for Storm - which scored a gazillion tries last year. Even George Jennings average high 30s in this setup. Feels like he could go on a run and be worth 530k in 10 rounds (before ending up back at 330k if you don't sell)
Cons: no history of a decent base. Scores (and bombs) a lot of catch and putdown tries that aren't worth much, not sure how many more on top he gets at new club.

Was on Paulo, but getting cold feet. Thinking now that while Paulo might edge the scoring this week and is probably a more consistent scorer if needed to play, longer term Coates has more earnign potential as a 18-21 stash.

    Anything I'm missing?

If you go Paulo, watch for a potential late switch back to his old wing.

Different players, different teams, different systems

I looked into his stats. He loves a missed tackle, doesn't seem to to do bulk kicking (Based on NSW Cup). He can goal kick though, average though.

Averages 3 missed tackles per game in NSW Cup, it's not going to be any lower in NRL level. And if he isn't doing at least 50% of the kicking, struggling to see where points come from barring a try/attacking stats.

The average rainfall in Melbourne surpasses Brisbane from late May through to late October. Given that Coates has flippers for hands, I think we'll see a drastic improvement during that time period.

Haha he is the most overrated "aerial threat" I've ever seen

Thanks - if he gets switched with Milne it's 100% Coates for me

Small sample, but Berry's stats from last year look pretty good at centre. Just trying to work out if he has good job security. Assume Vailea would go first, if Warriors decide to bring Pompey or Arthars in or swing Aitken back to the centres?

If Aitken was going to play CTR, he would be there round 1.

precursor wrote:Hmmm. Can go Uto, LoLo and Sexton to Haas, Angus and anyone under 346k. Means playing one of Ilias or Coates though. Seems like a no brainer

Uto - 50 (what many are predicting he will get)
Lolo - 58.4 (historical lock avg over 50 minutes)
Sexton - 45 (being generous with his inflated average, but next to Smith/AJB should be around 45-50)
    TOTAL - 153.4

    vs

Haas - 64 (last years average, has he wasn't playing 80 minutes a game)
Angus - 58.6 (historical 2RF avg over 60 minutes, becomes 57.7 if we go just Roosters games)
Ilias - 40 (just a random number I reckon he should at least get with kicking, tackling, running.
    TOTAL - 162.6

Option 1 - You're praying Uto can kick on and go 50-55 and praying Lolo gets back to his 60+ days. Sexton I think replicates Fogarty and hits 50's.

Option 2 - You get the Angus DPP and Ilias potential to go bigger than 40. Haas I think stays around 64.

    Very close IMO

    I started Paulo over Crichton.

Should I go A Crichton, JTB and J Paulo or Utoikamanu, Fifita/Vailea/Hunt/Smith (Start Ilias) and Latrell (get Crichtons score this week over whatever Paulo gets)

Not sure if this helps but the deciding factor for me picking Coates over Paulo is if Papi is out then you can swing Coates into WFB and then swap Papi to a guy like Sexton

Last decision to make is Berry vs Paulo vs Cotric as a WFB/CTR backup.

I feel like Paulo might be a bust. I know he is slotting into Souths' potent left edge, but (if Taafe is out) Paulo and Mansour are not Gagai and AJ from last year.

I just swapped Paulo out for Berry...It may be a mistake but tbh i feel better even though I have no intention of playing him this week

Looking at the second half of the year, I can see why there's a bit of hype around Uto.

Edit....I also looked at their stats and Paulo's did not suggest he was going to kill it. I only picked him in the first place because he was the cheapest DPP and I was fuding around trying to squeeze someone else in (had Cotric originally but 10k is 10k and I reckon Berry and Cotric go about the same)

Man having a shocker today...just quoted myself while trying to edit...is that like referring to yourself in the third person? Shocked

Gus was saying Berry is going to be a gun centre, was doing great in training, stood out etc.
