Rolled ankle end of the first half. Managed to get back out there. Must of had an injection at half time because he came out barely able to walk and after 10mins was running wild again.

Hey humans, been a pretty hectic weekend which has seen me only view two games in real time, and the other four at x2 speed via Kayo, so not really across everything.

I find myself with Vailea, Billy Smith and Ilias. I'd actually be content enough to hold onto them all and hope for a turnaround, if Vailea and Smith are allowed to play again. But my main problem is the cows I missed out on and being unable to afford them. I have no Tago, Crichton or J.King. Would love all, but perhaps I need to resign to the fact that won't happen.

I also have A.Fifita and thought he looked good. I was even hoping they might bring him back on in those last few minutes for a bit of spark that most other forwards in that team lack. But it was not to be. We reckon that might be possible in coming weeks? Surely he won't be cast aside first? Surely?

Not really sure what to make of my team yet. I don't think I'll be looking at Tago and Crichton (and soon to be Nanai) as players I can actually get as I don't have the funds to go that way. I probably got one "gun" too many, which is why I'm in this predicament. I told myself that they were all expendable and I'd be willing to trade out a gun that didn't fire if I could pick up some cows I missed if it all went to shit.

Easier said than done, though, as that'd mean trading out Teddy. I don't hate the idea - pick him up again after he's dropped some value, while I pick up Tago and Crichton who are going the other way. Or J.King.

But then Teddy scores 80 next week and I want to end myself, so I dunno. I think I'll leave my "guns" alone and look at lower value replacements, if I do decide to get rid of my failed cows.

With Welch gone, is MacDonald a possible slow burn option now? Sure he won't blitz in value like some of the others but if this is the price range I'll be looking at, could be be worth a punt?

THIS ... but when players are on their debut late in the season, you can expect a bit of this.

Going off training reports from the Cowboys, he has been put there in place of others (DUNN) who were not doing such a great job there. It does not make sense that they would not have sorted this out before settling on the team

Is it worth going say Smith Ilias to MacDonald King.

Crichton probably the guy id be worried about not having though. So Teddy to Chrichton and spud to Tago/King probably not the worst move you can do.

Bugger mate I was hoping you had S. Crichton he was one of my first players picked should’ve been priced at 450k but was priced at 350k.

I’ll help ya with potential options after this round is finished happy to have a look at your team and give my view.

Condolences to those who took a punt on Leniu, but I'm curious as to what more he has to do to prove that he's not a reliable Fantasy option. I wouldn't go anywhere near the dude, but in light of my recent efforts in Fantasy that could be considered a green light?

Thanks for the tips. I did wonder if I could use Ilias and Smith to get at least one of the $350-ish guys, but I still think it'll be right. And to be honest, I'm pretty willing to give Ilias another go. Smith and Vailea not as keen, but possible.

Not sure I could do the Teddy thing, but I will look hard at his BE and just what I could get for him.

Who are you folks swapping TPJ to?

    Not really many options...

Ipap/Lolo/Moses really the only three I'm looking at and I'm leaning towards Lolo simply because they've got Bulldogs first up, should be fairly 50/50.

Thanks mate. Yeah, not sure if you saw an earlier post around Wednesday, but I had the grand idea to dump Crichton/Tago/Nanai/Bullemor to bring in Lolo. Quickly decided I didn't want Lolo but instead of re-instating all those guys I (stupidly) realised I didn't miss them that much and brought Bird in instead (wrong bet in the Aitken/Bird battle too, sadly). And the only one I could bring back in was Bullemor, which I'm happy with. Just bummed about the other three.

But like they say in the movies, you can't have 'em all.

Was that the one where because it was batted on rather than catch-and-pass they said they were ruling on a knock on rather than a pass?

So the refs want to rule on them. Of course I'm sure they would cock it up from time to time, because they do that. But surely overall it's a benefit if they catch blatant ones like that?

Alternatively I heard some rugby comp is invested in balls with trackers in them. I'm a bit sceptical but could be something for the future.

Nah, I think will either be Sorenson or Leniu. Doubt minutes change much for either, maybe Leniu would get a brief 2nd stint and play 35.

Eisenhuth doesn't offer all that much.

multiple.scoregasms wrote:Bit of a deep dive into kick metres to start the year and how they correlate with completion percentage, run metres and penalties

    Team - Kick Mtrs - Comp % - Pens - Run Mtrs

    Manly - 740 - 82% - 7 - 1379
    Panthers 537 - 86% - 4 - 2084

    Sharks 337 - 67% - 5 - 1429
    Raiders 376 - 70% - 7 - 1296

    Broncos 664 - 83% - 7 - 1632
    Souths 396 - 66% - 5 - 1580

    Roosters 480 - 66% - 7 - 1431
    Knights 585 - 76% - 7 - 1815

    Warriors 518 - 69% - 4 - 1295
    Dragons 387 - 78% - 8 - 1644

    Tigers 392 - 74% - 9 - 1493
    Storm 465 - 80% - 7 - 1287

So what does all this mean? Teams that don’t drop the ball tend to kick for more metres. Don’t think we needed stats to confirm that. Exceptions being panthers and dragons. Didn’t watch dragons game but panthers spent a lot of time in Manly’s half so make sense they didn’t have as far to kick it despite completing well. Not really sure how penalties compare to this time last year so can’t comment on if the rule changes are impacting in that aspect

Bit late on this, but to fill the Dragons game picture for you.

1st half - Dragons had a big breeze behind them but didn't need to kick much due to dominating field position

2nd half - Warriors used the big breeze once when Johnson nailed a 40/20 (actually a 30/corner flag). They also managed a set restart that went 60m over everyones heads and rolled another 30m, so yeah, just a 90m dropout. Otherwise both teams played like garbage and dropped too much ball before the 5th to kick much. And when they did it complete it was off a mistake from the other side so they're in position for an attacking kick.

Anyway, I agree with your conclusion that there's not anything clear from your stats (or at least new... I guess it's clear that high completion = high kicking metres). I wouldn't think the total kicking metres are down that much with the six-again change. If they are down, it's because rusty R1 teams having lower completion rates than we will see in a month.
