Cheers, was leaning B as well so that seems easy enough. Never a bad time to bank a trade and a bit of cash I suppose.

Hahaha me last year. If he hit a 70 last week I wouldn't have said it, but even if he hits 100 this week, he's just as out of reach as he was last week.

Early season, cash gen is king. But I bought Cleary in week 0 to "save trades"... not sure that's working out for me Laughing

What are people doing with Billy Smith? I’ve max traded to now and was planning on holding off for a few weeks after his 40. Do we think there is much chance he gets his spot back when he is fit or suaali and naiqama likely to usurp him

What a shocking pick he was. Want to go back to the Thursday to start the season and slap myself a few times for the late changes I made

If Cleary averages 80 over the next 3 weeks [most likely a overestimate with all the NERFS] he drops around another 50 k

If Cleary he 70 over the next 3 weeks [a decent score you could be happy with] he drops around 100k

If he averages 60 over the next 3 weeks [a viable possibility], he drops to 870k

    If he averages 50 -> 820k

I am more than willing to wait

Its not just a stockmarket game though is it? But low/sell high is part of it, but you play for points. If he averages 80 or even 70 you've missed three weeks of the best scorer, while also playing captain roulette and losing a few more points there.

I'm not getting him this week. I would if I could more easily though.

When we get to the last game of the round, if Cleary lights it up with an 85 or 100 and my rank is falling faster than something really fast, knowing there's no recourse to regain ranks for minimum 4 days... that's probably going to be the low point of the fantasy season.

Then there is the assumption that 70 will be the best scorer. It just does not hold this year.

There is a need to get comfortable with the fact the Cleary is now part of the Captain roulette. If you lump over one million into him right now, and he averages 60, you are missing out on both points and cash generation. The opportunity costs with Cleary are very high. Make money and points and bring him in when those costs are not quite as high. Just keep an option open for getting him in when the time is right.

If Cleary score 100 this week, he still loses 16k

Yep, that was my point. If he doesn't go big, say in the 60s like suggested, then you gain 150k over those who bought him in now. And get the same score from Haas captain.

But if he goes all Cleary again then you're out 40*2*3 points and you've still gotta find the cash.

Its a gamble of course. But the upside payout of 150k vs the downside payout of losing the game means the decision is pretty simple in my eyes. Captaincy is a thing.

Cash generation and getting players at optimum price is important. If I was to get Cleary in this week I'd still have C on Haas. I'm probably selling Fifita. Many say hold him the scores will come yada yada yada. He was my =12th worst scorer last week against the Tigers no less

Cleary is currently priced at 73 points.
I think a conservative estimate (4G 1TA 1LB 1LBA 17T 3TB 2MT 1OF E1 100MG 500KM 1FDO) still brings him to 70. If the Panthers score 8 tries against the Dogs (easy peasy!) then he is probably closer to 80 in GK boost alone. What if he scores a second try assist? A try would probably see him make his breakeven and grab a banner.

You guys still have steady hands about leaving him out or are you hiding behind the couch on Sunday?

Couch hiding. Well, metaphorically. I'm not planning to watch the Sunday night game.

I just don't want to sell one of these guys when I can sell JoKing to Cleary in one trade next week:

Haas - 2nd best player going, no MID cover if sold

Papy, Mitchell, Burton, Aitken, Crichton - mainly keepers, sell one and would have to play Coates/Koula

    Wilton - cash to make

SJ - only got him last week, like the punt, think he makes some cash too

Mann - cash to make, no mid cover if sold

Randall & Starling - cash to make, selling one means no HOK cover

Any one of them gets hit by a bus, or banned for fighting a diminutive teammate at the pub, before the weekend, I'll get Cleary.

If he scores 100 or in that range you get him in next week. Season not over. It's about whole team score.

If he get's sub 50 again or worse early exit with injury or HIA that's really tragic for early adopters. Failhub would probably throw some kind of bone to prevent mass exodus

Personally I'll be hiding behind the couch. I would absolutely get him in if I had an easy path. Buying value applies for most trades but not if you have a stand out captain option like CS9 in years past or Cleary now. You pay up for the captain. Suggesting otherwise is probably living in denial, although some genuinely believe he is no longer head and shoulders above the rest. I think they're wrong, but of course no one will know for sure until later in the season. I would have started the season with him and nothing I've seen would change my opinion he's the best captaincy option. Last week even with a low score, I was uncomfortable the entire game, he looked like he could easily junk point it up at any moment, and he'll be better for the run. I'll be praying he gets an early shower after he's scored 60 in 60 minutes.
