Kennedy may be a decent cash cow / cash out, but I wouldn't let him near my 17.

There's no better cashout that plays 17. Don't know why some are getting Volkman for 19k cheaper unless need double cheap for final team $$$

at very least they are going about it all wrong.

The likes of JFH, taumalolo, Manu are certainties but who else makes the side. Any English players a chance? John Bateman out of sight out of mind these days

The only English player who would be anywhere near a World XVII at the moment is Alex Walmsley.

The game in England is completely on its uppers at the moment. There's a lot more money in Union, and a lot, lot. lot more money in soccer. Almost all talented young athletes in the RL heartlands, the type who used to go into League, are in soccer academies. Later on,,some of the bigger lads who don't progress in soccer are more likely to be going down Union pathways that League... League might get the leftovers of the ones who can't crack it.

But on that cheery note: NRL XVII...

*edit* I forgot Tino. Pop him in for one of the bench forwards.

I kinda want to see if Papy is goalkicking before I make a decision, but Bellamy is pretty unlikely to tell us.

Papen BE upper 50s back from double injury and at this stage fair to call him injury prone. I don't think vs Manly is must buy and would rather have a look at him before buying

There aren't enough NRL quality number 9s to cover the current teams let alone expansion. This won't change until the position is taken seriously ala Penrith's halfback academy.

Players that don't play origin are criminally under rated. If someone like JWH or JFH was able to play for maroons/queensland they would end their career in the discussion for best to do it in their position. Instead they don't get the wraps they deserve because they don't get to play the biggest game on the calendar

Forget being worth 1 mil per season, Haas isn't even the best middle on his own team. Goal line defence leaves a lot to be desired and he tries to go sideways far too often

Goal kickers should be more highly valued instead of picking your best 17 then trying to find the best goal kicker from the bunch. Bring back the specialist goal kicker like Mantellato.

Underperforming clubs can't bounce back into the 8 playing a watered down version of the tactics the top teams play. Cowboys a great example of how to do it

The non-Aussies being underrated is obvious, and Haas being overrated is related to the other side of stats heavy guys being overrated.

but I like your specialist goal kicker idea. I generally think teams don’t take the 2 for penalties enough. When you knock back a penalty, you’re hoping for (on average) about 5.5 points (4 for the try plus 75% conversion rate). For that to be worth it, you need to be scoring a try about 37% of the time you tap. I doubt many teams are doing that? Definitely needs more analysis

Agreed. I almost always advocate for the 2. I mean, you've been given 2 points. To paraphrase Brad Pitt in Moneyball, when someone offers you free points you should say thank you.

Obviously extreme circumstances like being down by 24 and/or in the dying minutes means you shouldnt take them. But being down 12 points 2 minutes into the second half and a penalty right in front? Say thank you.

But but but the commentators always assure me that taking the two is what the opposition wants you to do! You've gotta take the aggressive option, you have them on the ropes here!

I always thought they wanted you not to score points, personally, but hey.

Makes me roll my eyes every time they bring out that cliche.

Video refs not being able to rule on forward passes has to be one of the stupidest rules in the NRL. It works absolutely fine in union and it’s virtually the same thing as ruling on a knock on.

Weird that they have told Peachey he can look elsewhere. If Douehi is playing 6, someone is picking up huge minutes in the MID.
