Don’t get me wrong, being a ref is signing up for a hiding for nothing. But surely that doesn’t cross a line and enter into copping abuse in the workplace etc.

I once lost a grand final where we had two players sent off for using the word cheat (in reference to the other team) despite the fact that they were quite obviously cheating and the ref was too old to keep up.
