    Except calling a ref a cheat has always been a sin bin or send off.

    Give it a 5k fine and a 1 game suspension. Move on. I suspect itll be 2+ though

    If suspended, Grant looks like a nice pickup next week (He did anyway I know).  Storm play Sunday so he will more than likely back up.

    Unrelated to cheating bastards, I'm questioning my decision to hold Cotter.

    Wondering whether a lay-off from a hammy injury may curtail his fitness and therefore his ability to smash out 60+ minutes and maniacal speed?

    Anyone care to offer thoughts / examples either way?

    PS: Just found this (relates to soccer)

    "Within two matches after return to play, 83% of the players with a hamstring injury returned to pre-injury maximal velocity levels.

    In the first match after return to play, 100% of the players with a hamstring injury reached their pre-injury total distance, 94% reached their pre-injury sprint distance, 89% reached their pre-injury high-intensity distance and 50% reached their pre-injury maximal velocity."

    Definitely have to be cautious with hammies

    I’m sure NRL physio has said before there’s a 25% reinjury rate, a high number anyway

    It probably helps they’ve held him back for the longer amount of time - from the initial 4-6 weeks he’s going to be 6

    But if you’ve held him this long…

    Looked it up. Contrary conduct, assuming guilty plea:
    Grade 1: 1000$
    Grade 2: 1 game
    Grade 3: 2 games

    If you're straight to judiciary is it higher than this?

    Makes me think they are going to go for at least 2 games, but Storm will try and get a downgrade to 1.

    It's funny looking at the scaling generally, the largest fines are 2.5-3k, which seems to be an alternative to a 1 match ban. Now unless you're on a train-and-trial I'd think most players would take the fine over the suspension all day long.

    Honestly didn’t think it was intentional or that wreckless or a hip drop, just the momentum- those tackles happen all the time, they just get penalised when a player get injured,

    I could be way off but in real speed there was nothing in it, sigh

    Shit maybe at some point Scomo stopped having to pretend and actually starting liking rugby league for real: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/former-pm-morrison-eyeing-spot-on-rugby-league-commission-20220707-p5b00s.html

    Pretty sure the ex-Treasurer just put similar feelers out with AFL and was politely rebuffed.

    The judiciary page doesn’t actually state who tackle was on but I assume it was the Bromwich tackle given he was on report

    It was marked as grade 2 dangerous throw which is why he’s missing game

    Yeah, there is that....

    As one of the few who are yet to get Cleary, I need to build cash and I can see three ways of going.

    1: This week Nanai out for Ofa/Klem/Ipap and next week Tapine/Cotter/Robson out for Cleary

    2: As opton 1, but bring forward the trade out of Tap/Cotter/Robson for a cheapie. Enough cash for Edrick to Cleary next week in an upgrade for the ages.

    3: Nanai to cheapie this week and someone like McInnes/Harris to Cleary next week.

    NRL PHYSIO
    @nrlphysio
    Ryan Papenhuyzen is expected to be fit for Round 18 despite suffering a mallet finger & back contusion (cork). Long turnaround helps, will likely have to play through the finger deformity for at least the next month (& possibly the season)

    NRL PHYSIO
    @nrlphysio
    Clarification from the Storm - more a finger sprain for Papenhuyzen, would indicate ligament involvement rather than tendon. Still expected to be fine for next week

    this is why i traded him immediately. he had a minor hammy injury at the start of the season as well. even when he's back i feel like cowboys will go easy on him for a few weeks at least.

    Ex-ministers who didn't expect to be ex-ministers so soon just asking all of their contacts for a cushy job. Nothing new. A bit desperate if they're asking NRL powerbrokers and funny that it went public. No chance it happens.
