In that region I've spent some time in San Sebastian, Valencia and Bordeaux

All good for different reasons but none probably worth the full 5 or 6 nights

San Sebastian is a little beach side town with world class food and quality drinks

Bordeaux is a bigger city and great if you are wine lover

Day trip out from Bordeaux out to Arcachon. Oysters for lunch.

ok so into the prelims and I have 3 trades left and 60k

    matchup is

    Murray v Mciines
    Fififita v Aitken
    Burton v Talakai
    Crichton v Butcher

now I should have quite a big edge but dont want to be complacent and next week will be much tougher.

Mahoney Elliott Tago probably my weak points. Dont think i can move Tago though.

Was thinking Palasai to 220k and then I can go Mahoney or Elliott up to Robson or Grant and then I have 1 move left.

Or could go straight Elliott to Cotter and keep 2.

Probably leaning towards the first one but not sure which guy to move on and which guy to bring in. Positions dont matter.

Talk of stripping ponga of the captaincy, I mean. All jokes aside, that’s hardly a punishment. If I had a key player who is a liability in the public, I’d make him captain just so there is a token punishment up the sleeve

Getting sacked by Newcastle would be a great result for Ponga. If you want to punish him, give him a new contract.

Well we will be able to pick our Bundy teams from tomrrow as well.

Lots will pick Cook, Murray and Hynes for the men. But if you wanna take risk which I think you’ve have too being only allowed to pick 6 players looking at match ups will be crucial too. Eg Grant against Broncos this week could be a better option than Cook against Penrith. Someone like Manu at centre could be a great option!

Looking at halves and hookers I defs cant pick a women’s player in those positions to start with I don’t think.

Fox League reporting Moses is a strong chance to play just has to get through the week. Brad Arthur is confident he will play and Moses will be named tomrrow.

This is great news for me, now I just need Trell to play too.

Yeah Turkey not as far away from the other spots as people naturally think, and its easy to just think Iran Iraq I'm to scared to go to that area

The Sophia Hague, blue mosque, Topkapi palace, the Troy ruins, the Bosphorus sea... so much history, breathtaking.

Yes very accommodating people all over.

Cappadocia still appeals as a future target, and Antalya...

Really appreciate everyones tips. Copied everything to a notes file. Might be some PM's coming your way for specific recommendations once I've done some digging. So many ideas.

Wouldn't mind a bit of a trip report when you're done. Insanely jealous.

Slovenia one of my favourites. Outstanding nature, friendly people and interesting culture

Looking to add a few more destinations to the list in the next 12 months with Hawaii next up

We really enjoyed Slovenia too - the caves (Skocjan & Postojna) in particular I remember as mind blowing (Probably a fair bit out of the way for MTB).

We spent a little time in Provence in the South of France - it's a fair option for sure, quite a different feel to Northern France.
I think it was about a 2hr train from Barcelona to Perpignon - we picked up a rental so it was pretty easy to get around - but think they probably have good transport options.

Probably prefer the idea of going to the Basque Country or Southern Spain if it's me (oh how I wish it was me lol)

Basque Country great, Seville great, Balearic Islands great (and whisper it but I had a great time in Ibiza that didn't involve hanging out in one of the tourist dive towns or getting mullered in San Antonio)

Absolutely agree with picking a spot and hanging out for a week with some day trips to nearby surrounds.

So at what point do those of us with 1 trade left blow it on a sideways punt if no injury blows this week? Or is it worth holding it to the final week in case of any final round resting?

Got a trip booked for October. Trip starts with four nights in Barcelona (second visit here), and ends with four nights in Lisbon. I have 9 nights in between that I'm not (yet) sure how to fill, but a couple of them will be in London to catch up with a friend.

Anyone got any locals only tips/suggestions in that area of the world for the other 5 or 6 nights ? Hoping to get a little away from the very tourist centric spots.

Without any solid plan I am open to just completely winging it.

Straight to Portugal, hire a house boat and sail down the Douro to Porto. Stop at the Port Houses along the way
