I stepped away for a bit, had to go back and have a look. Lol. *Should* be the easiest update ever. What position is he actually playing?

Well he's playing scrum half now so...
(Seriously though, about as obvious a TA as you can get)

People were dismissive of him, as he'd had purple patches in the past, but ultimately burned a lot of people. What was different this time such that he ascended into gun status?
Was it Matto being played through the middle? In the past he'd been the edge but was a change of role for Matto the key?
Related to the above, was it iPap being so dangerous on an edge that BA was forced to bring someone else through the middle to keep him out there?
Was it the way his "purple patch" was being scored? Lots of minutes and lots of base as opposed to the try scoring of the past?
Was it the opposite of above where Lane was getting more attacking stats than years past, and the Eels being a better and more consistent side helping that?
Was it Dylan Brown taking more responsibility in attack, a buy signal for his corresponding back rower?
What do you guys think, because in the future id like to buy and not miss this kind of opportunity.
Not sure if you missed it but they ruled no try for Mays third.rhinoceroo wrote:Tohu got his TA now. Somehow they're still missing May's third try.

This is a really good post and I think it warrants a reply
Personally I didn't take Lane because of past fantasy bias. Many years of average scores with a few purple patches thrown in made it "easy" to just let it pass by as temporary. Haven't done a deep dive into stats to see if anything changed but from the eye test, Lane is poking through a lot of tackles generating offloads which I assume has included a few linebreak assists and try assists
Think this will be one to revisit with fresh eyes in the offseason to avoid repeating the mistake

I’d say Brown’s form and 4 point offloads have contributed to his scoringMulvy wrote:
I agree, it was a great post. I personally was very similar to you MS. I really didn't put too much thought into him at all. I suspect part of it was that I had a bunch of Edges or Mid/Edges and I had other priorities, but yeah really never considered I think because of the same reasons as you. I've owned him before a couple of times if memory serves, one time I was happy and one I wasn't. I felt he scores in purple patches and I've put no thought towards what has changed that yet. Maybe it's a longer than normal purple patch? Inspired pick though, and DK always a gun fantasy player, hope he can bring it home!
