Bad news if Martin out Round 1 because it won't clear up which of Garner or Hosking will start Round 2 onwards.

"In doubt" for a game two weeks before the start of the season doesn't sound that much anyway.

Martin plays right edge so it'll be pretty clear whoever plays left gets the spot you'd think.

Idk... if one plays great and the other doesn't it's pretty cloudy. Sorenson's in the equation too. But anyway the Martin injury at the moment doesn't sound too serious.

I usually prefer to wait a few rounds before getting Mbye, mainly so that I can also burn a trade when I fall for the same trap for the 8th consecutive season....

If it's a bad injury the biggest permutation would be on the wooden spoon odds imo. Sullivan should be fit for their first game since Dragons don't play until Sunday of round 2. Non-dominant (umm submissive I guess?) 5/8ths tend to be very inconsistent and everything goes through Hunt in that team. He could eek out his 10 points of value and average 33 but there's probably better options at 350k

Is anyone because of their early byes considering running with none of Cleary or Hynes and running Murray as Captain with a Tapine, Robson and Burton combo?

I've seen that touted as a "strategy" by Fantasy Amateurs, but I can't understand why he's not considering using Cook rather than Murray given the rationale he's using. More reliable scorer with more guaranteed minutes. Guess when you try to think outside the box you also get trapped into thinking with blinkers.

However, no, I'll be picking and captaining Cleary because he'll score more points.

It said it was a meniscus clean out surgery and he should be fine by R2

Probably impacts those looking at Bird the most because you’d have to take gamble on him being named with no prior evidence and not missing R2 in addition to R1 bye

Also if everything you try to do is outside the box, maybe you need a bigger box.

I mean if I was picking Sullivan I doubt he’d average much more than 35 so he’d be a NPR so pretty much any cow would do a similar job

Having a look at some bench hookers who might get some decent minutes and noticed that Fa’amanu Brown isn't in the system. Has he left the NRL?

I've been pondering this a bunch. My current line of thinking is starting with Cleary and Tapine for captaincy cover. Rationale being I think Cleary is likely to be the best scorer this year and I think Tapine is better value than Murray. Games last year over 50 mins he averaged the same as Murray for 100k less without the HIA risk. Obvious counter point to that is the Ricky Stuart factor and chance of lower minutes in the warmer part of the season.

Starting Hynes very attractive as well but I want both him and Cleary and it feels much more doable to get a mil together by round 7 rather than round 4 to fund the buy.
