That said he does look like a good player, but I just can't help but feel like buying him next week is chasing last week's points and he'll come out and drop a big fat 30 next week when everyone expects a big one.
Can anyone talk me out of this?

Don't get Hosking Beth! He's a trap!

I'm being serious here.
All the stats point to him being a great buy and silly not to get on but something just doesn't sit right with me. We all captained Hopgood last week expecting a good score and it didn't happen, and in that case I did it against my better judgment because I suspected everyone else would do the same.
I have played pretty straight bat thus far when it comes to trades and captaincy picks.

To get him I need to lose one of my big 3 Mids, Murray, Tapine and Carrigan, and then play hopgood as the third mid,
already have hopgood and wilton as edges, with ford and preston as cover,
so in effect I need to be convinced he is an outlier gun who will average better than all of the above,
Last year I let many keepers go by the way side (tago, Tiny may, etc) and still did fine,
I wannna jump on his bandwagon but not sure I have the capacity

He is a hard working player and if he nails down the starting spot he'll be close to a must have. The question is: why didn't he get the starting spot in round 1 & 2?Bethany_B wrote:

Where does he sit in the pecking order with Martin & Garner?
I do remember Ivan Cleary having EDG player rotations at times in previous seasons, so no guarantee of him playing 80 each game...
Does that help?
