i've purposely tried not commenting here or on social media about it because my bias probably makes me a bit blinded but i do think we got stitched up hard by the tele, we were dumb to give them a chance but they waited there for a shot and 60 seconds of adam elliot being nude = 5 days on being on the front page (FFS surely there is more important things to be consuming our front pages)

2 days before that they're running articles about nudies runs or promoting trent merrin's nudity or sending out tweets asking the public for mad monday pics but suddenly we're outraged, fuck me

250k is a fine that should be handed out for cheating not for a player getting his cock out among other players singing a song

i know its not a good look but greenburg bending over the news and being the ultimate reactor is just as bad a look imo

The family men were home with their family, they weren't there, but they should be advising these guys on how to prep a mad monday. The club should be making sure they are out of sight not in a public place. Every leagues club has an auditorium with a bar or a suburban home ground they can lock out. Then as night falls, bus them to a boat and get them out on the water away from prying eyes with strippers and hookers and plenty of blow. Home for a shower may be a couple of hours rest, then back into it. It's now Tuesday and the story has passed.

Or at leat that's what I think would be a good idea.

Good idea in theory but next thing you know a loose cannon is trying to light a kid in a dolphin suit on fire before swimming to shore......or something like that

I've said it before and I'll say it again, who has brought the game into disrepute here?

The players and club who thought they were out of the spotlight or the media that has turned something which would have been unlucky to offend a couple of passer's by with good eyesight, into a deadset circus.

if Greenberg had any testicular fortitude he would have stepped up and addressed the real offenders here.

Once again my solution is to hand out media licences.
If they want to publish this rubbish, the NRL can't stop them but subsequently with my licence system, they wouldn't be getting access to the areas and information that journalists who haven't brought the game into disrepute would then get.

Doing it at a pub in daylight, I mean - what deadset idiot thinks they are out of the spotlight or the media eye?? Why do it at a pub??

Im all for mad monday shennanigans but far out - rent a house down the coast and do it. Its dumb as fuck. They didnt bring the game into disrepute IMO, they just make themselves look like absolute morons and they reinforce the bonehead league player stereotype. There is potential to lose sponsors when shit like this happens, so yes it does have a bad reflection on the club. So say the media are the real offenders - is saying that the public are the real offenders, as we are the ones reading the stories and apparently we are the ones that cant get enough of league scandals. If we dont buy it, they dont sell it.

250k fine is way over the top - considering the winners of the minor premiership only win 100k. Greenberg is the king of over reacting and bending to the media. The absolute undisputed king of it.

reports surfacing that klem wants out of sydney for personal reasons (which he will no doubt state has nothing to do with 4.6 million newy have apparently offered him)

the blows just keep coming i guess, there has been a fair bit of smoke about klem for a while now and while i think he is a premier prop i can't blame him for wanting to cash in while he can, this is jsut clearly part of our game atm and we don't have any wiggle room to compete with that

i don't really understand how he can receive an offer when he isn't able to be contacted by rival clubs till next November but eh

yeah I dont understand how coaches and players are allowed to be contacted like they have been. I thought it was against the rules.

Would happily take Klemmer and would be happy to pay that for him.

Isn't there some bullshit loophole about talking to managers and not the player ?? I vaguely remember reading something.

Pulls out the old chestnut "personal reasons". Needs to get out of Sydney for personal reasons. Newy is 2hrs up the road. It takes that long to drive from Penrith to the beaches.
Piss take award for 2019 is currently firmly in Klemmer's grasp.

Apparently he went in with his wife to speak to the boss. Isn't everything technically a personal reason though? Personally I want more money. Personally I want a bigger house.

As a QLDer it is tough to admit but Klemmer is easily the best prop in the game....would be a great coup for Newie and just the foundation Pearce and Ponga need.

As for the coaching and player movements, nobody has yet been able to explain to me a good reason why the NRL shouldn't adopt a strict policy banning coach/player transfers until the current season has finished.

And please don't roll out the old 'but clubs need time to adequately build a team and plan ahead'.....absolute rubbish.
If everyone was on the same playing field there is no reason we couldn't have a free for all from say 1st of November onwards.

i agree that some south of free agency period would work better then the current set up, ultimately i think the biggest problem is that agents are basically doing what ever they want, when ever they want and the NRL seemingly has now way of stopping them talking to clubs years in advance

i'd also actually argue the whole planning ahead rubbish is actually contradicted when situations like the klemmer one arise, if it actually does occur, we're obviously much worse off then if we were to lose him in some sough of free agency period where we may be able to go in for someone else. not that really bothers me this time around because i'd probably rather jsut get out of the cap bind seeing as we're still a while away from being competitive regardless

there was a rumor about us replacing him with Napa, which would probably make the whole idea of losing klemmer worse because Napa's $ value exceeds what he offer on the field imo, offers no where near what klemmer does in terms of week to week consistently playing a big role in the middle.

Today's people lists those personal reasons as being the lowest paid starting forward at Canterbury with Eastwoods back ended deal worth doble his $400K

i'm positive klemmer himself would be on a back ended contract, so you;d think he'd understand that eastwood wasn't just cashing 800k the whole time

part of me doesn't really think the club should release him based on the fact he isn't happy with the contract he signed, we wern't happy with eastwood being paid 800k last year for foran being the games highest paid player next year but we can't jsut walk away from them, i'm not sure we need to allow klem to do that. he still has incentive to play well to continue being picked for NSW & aust too

If we had a transfer window at the end of the season, for the next 10 months after that Managers could concentrate on getting their players more money through 3rd party deals and appearing at car yard openings and Bunnings supermarket promotions on a Saturday morning. We couldn't possibly have that...

What bothers me is one of two things is happening, the Knights have approached a contracted player when they're not allowed to and should be fined as such or the media are throwing out a ridiculous figure they've made up because Newcastle can't possibly have a contract ready for someone with two years still left on his deal.

Or its tactical. Newcastle show interest so the dogs pay more then cant afford to keep the player off contract next year that Newcastle actually want
