Could go Hopgood, Uto and Alamoti to Walsh, Bird and Couchman, makes my back 5 look pretty solid:

    Grant
    Haas Murray Ford
    Katoa Hosking
    Cleary Boyd
    Bird Nully
    Miller Teddy Walsh

    Preston Carty Loiero Couchman
    IKatoa Warbrick ITT AKP

I think I could do Crossland over Couchman but that leaves me without any mid cover

Looking into Couchman a little deeper, one of the concerns is Lawrie's minutes being lower on the weekend. Could we not argue that the first 4 games of the season were outliers for him? He seems to be a 45-50 minute player based off last season. Maybe JDB takes his minutes and couchman still get's his 40 odd?

I don't know if this is relevant, but Couchman is a big lad. I've watched him on tv and in person last week, and he's much bigger in person. Could be one who just works his way into the side on form as well. I think he's worth a punt*.

*I also thought Trent Peoples was worth a punt

The Couch is at least sitting in the top 30

Didn’t realise he was only 19. Exciting talent. No idea what it means for fantasy

Just noticed Angus Crichton, Nathan Brown and Dylan Napa have been named in the Roosters NSW Cup side this week. Didn't even realise Napa was back.

    I think 40mins is plausible.

The next question though is will he average at least 35 in 40mins, would be a pretty good scoring rate. I know he scored well last week but he also had 25pts in 40min before that.

Thinking of just going Walsh + BSmith and figuring out how to get Tapine in later on (could downgrade Murray to Tohu earlier than R13 or sell EKatoa/Carty in R9)

    Leaves team as (45k ITB)

    Robson
    Haas Murray Ford
    Katoa Frizell
    Cleary SJ
    Bird Alamoti
    Teddy Walsh Miller

    BSmith Carty Loiero Preston
    Katoa Thompson Warbrick Nikorima

Every year I find there is one cheapie hanger-on in my team, that seems to stay around for most of the season, I think HSS is that player

I like the moves and team looks good, it does make getting Tapine back a bit tricky. But still better than bringing in a cow that you're not really sure of just to leave some bank for it.

A lot can change in two weeks I guess so another obvious path to Tapine may open up as well.

Its 2023 and I've finally become addicted to trading, so I will probably bring him to get my fix.

How long can BMM continue to start ? I haven't watched him closely but he really doesn't seem to offer anything.

He passes the eye-test and is cheap, looks like a better option than some of the bench fodder in my team so I for one am happy to take the punt. The DPP is handy, getting emg MID cover after trading Hopgood out for Hynes. Plays the first bye as well.

If I get Couch then I can’t afford Bird, need to bring in maybe McInnes or Lemuelu

If I get Sele/Luke then I can get Bird. Thoughts mate?

Warning with Matterson - he could well end up playing less minutes going forward... as he did last year in the MID role....

I suspect that with Paulo coming back in this will be the case... It is making me rethink my decision to trade out Hopgood. Check out Round 19 - 25 last year

Yeah I am planning to hold Hopgood, should get huge scores in each of the origin bye rounds, with RCG, Paulo, likely Matterson out. Probably back to 80 minutes for 70 points in each of those rounds, when other teams are struggling for quality players.

Yep, there will be a lot of people buying Hopgood back in R13
    for 600k.

Ha yeah that's what I was going to say, it is possible to just buy him back come rd13. Probably for more like $560k-$570k too

Holding a $717k player that is probably going to average 40 for the next 5 rounds and drop $150k seems a sub-optimal play

If he averages 40 (39 score last week), he'll be a fair bit cheaper than 600k by round 13.
Even if he is $600k, that means he's averaging mid 40's and losing >$100k in cash.  For $717k, should be able to get much better returns than that in the meantime.

That seems pretty silly, there’s guys around Hopgoods price range that should knock out consistent 50-60s, whatever ground you gained having Hopgood for the bye rounds would at best be recovering the ground you lost holding him while everyone else cashed him in for a gun.
