    Thanks, your condolences are appreciated.

3 trades left after my 1 this week. Could be a rapid decline post bye period.

It's not the size of your trade numbers, but how you use them...

A bird in the hand... or some such.

Relying on bit of future luck but at least there's a little buffer to work with.

Nah, 'cult hero' is just used to describe some dude you can't believe is playing first grade but somehow makes it to between 10 and 50 NRL games and has some other quality that fans relate to.

Some examples would be someone with limited talent but a striking haircut, a forward who makes 1,000 tackles a game but never scores a try, someone really fast with feet for hands, a player with a 'dad bod' etc etc

Once they get to around 100 games they become a 'club legend'.

    Team of the week predictions:
    Cook
    Harris Haas Yeo
    Hopgood Bateman
    Moses Hynes
    Graham Farnworth
    Turbo Walsh Isaako

    What would you change?

    This is a good point.

Agree with Aardvark, that in light if this new information, it's probably more that the average fan thinks you're relatable in some way.

e.g. chonky is really your super-fit, muscly body is slightly hidden by some puppy fat that makes the fat fuck on the hill drinking 6 cans with a beer gut think it could've been him in first grade

Then Ray Stone is seen as someone who works hard and has little talent. Which he probably is in comparison to other NRL players. But compared to the other 99% who've ever played footy he's obviously ridiculously talented and could run rings around them even if he stopped training for a year

Another cult hero status used to be "player likes a beer" which really meant "player is a high functioning alcoholic who is fun while drunk instead of transgressing into criminal behaviour". But that's probably a relic now.

Old mate having an unexpected blinder in his debut probably helped with the cult hero status.

Daine Laurie (the original one) was definitely a cult hero

    Thinking Hopgood or Bateman.
H2H only, so don't care about bye rounds.
    TU - Bateman
    TD - Hopgood

Hopgood's biggest plus his bye schedule

Post round 20, if Parra end up getting back to full strength there's no guarantee he gets the minutes/role/points you want, so I'd go for Bateman

thoughts on using a trade to buy yeo or haas even though they don't play rd. 16...i have 12 players already & missing a mid (i have hopgood, hedwards) but the pool of rd. 16 mids is pretty dire apart from matterson who is predicted to be back rd. 16 from his calf injury but from his history he likes picking up injuries so could be one to steer away from. so which option do you like:
    (a) buy yeo this rd. 15 or
    (b) buy haas this rd. 15 or
    (c) save the trade from either (a) & (b) & buy matterson rd. 16

    thanks.

    thanks.

Getting a keeper is always a good trade.

But, perhaps depends if it is a significant upgrade, ie who is Yeo going to replace in your 17, and trades remaining. If its only going to net 10 points on averages then might be worth just waiting a couple of weeks.

If its turning a low 30s hit and miss guy into Haas/Yeo, then worth it.

My worry with Bateman is that last week's game may have been an outlier. Maybe he was just pumped up for a revenge game against the Raiders?
You're right about Hopgood though, no guarantee he keeps his role once everyone is back healthy.

Can't decide whether to make a 3rd trade of Burbo to Fainu. Leaves me with 6 trades left which is a little concerning but at least I have someone making a bit of cash and another Mid for 16.

    Trades are overrated:
