Can't promise to keep this up, but here's some addled thinking as it stands after TLT 1A

All the letters obviously depend on TLT 1B and there are a load of permutations depending on cost, position etc. Of the locked in squad:

Cheese: DPP. Upside. Fun. Hurt me again when you hurt yourself again.

Haas: Know the arguments against. Don't care. When he's on 42 at half time this weekend you won't be thinking about subguns with three points of value. VC locked.

Piakura: Can't not

Sitili/Wong: No faith in Roosters rotation, fully expect to be ditching one of them in month, but it's a lot easier to sell players than buy them. 10+ points of value if either/both turn into 80 minute players, some value even if they don't

Burbo: Fantasy centre named in the forwards. The Blonde Widow. Potentially useful red dot loop from round two onwards.

Of the "letters":

Fairly sure that A and G will be Smithies and Salmon when DPP added

B will be Moses or Hunt depending on how much cash I have or want to leave in bank

C will be Kris as a guaranteed starter after round one, slightly underpriced with hyper-useful dual for the early byes

That means I need another centre... Strange if named will be L. Can look at his score and bring in Aitken or another centre further up the letter list if he's trash, while taking K's score looping into the 17. Will have to have a complete rethink of the bench if Weekes gets the nod instead of Strange.

D and E... Ponga and Papy, locked

F... taking a punt on Kini. Kid's dynamite. Don't have any trust in a league player (Campbell) to have the first idea when he's actually ready to be back. Guy hasn't trained since September and is *way* nepo-verated anyway. Kini is a massive MattNZ selection that somehow MattNZ is against, so almost bound to be hit and keep his place all year. If he isn't, meh, trade.

H, I, J for the rest of the scoring 17 - this lot depend on price, position and teamlists, so can't be sure. Currently it's Luki, Elliott, Lussick but other contenders include Flegler, Kenny, Aitken, Blore, Hutchinson. There are going to be good value players missing out, but you can't have them all.

That leaves K, M and N for pure cows. Currently Bradley, Mikaele and Hughes. One might be Levi if I need hooker cover and he's starting, or something else might turn up.

Will try to update at the end of R1 when I discover that my team is somehow completely different to the one above, but this one would have done better.

Correct. Cotter not really on my radar. There are more than 20 players with potential value so have to pick and choose. Already have Cheese, so that's one undersized lunatic who runs too hard at things and consistently breaks bits of himself, it's asking for trouble carrying two of them.

My team has already changed a lot in an experiment to fit in Rapana, fond memories of riding Leipana to my best ever finish all those years ago. This weekend's mob still the same, but will reassess next week.

With Strange = Strapana

With Kris = Krapana

With Fogarty (not doing this one) = Fapana

Team looks similar to mine, with the same question marks. I opted for cook over a 2nd gun half. Similar fullback situation to you. Kris playing centre is a strange pick. He doesn’t pass the eye test and is 400k? I’ve thought about rapana but then came to terms with him being 34 years old. Raiders also likely to struggle. That really leaves gunning up for WFB3, a high risk winger like sivo, or just accepting the fate of Kini + Bradley. Headache hey.

Had a bit of a rethink. Playing around with ditching Haas and locking in Cook VC from Vegas because of the potential difficulty of hooker, the amount of potential value mids, and the possible need to have a bit more cash for TLT 1B with a lack of 250k options to fill out bench.

You could also just VC one of the Roosters boys and give you even more flexibility. Would mean ditching Cook Haas Murray etc. as the Vegas guns. But you have a lot more leeway for TLT B

Means other guns like Grant Hopgood Ponga etc are still up for grabs as your choices

Gone the other way. Brought Haas back in but ditched Ponga for Turbo. Tinker, tinker.

Might free up another 100k by going Haas to Murray. Oh Jesus. So much tinkering. Turning into Rabbits.

This is it to go into Vegas, except big Payne is back in for Murray. Can't bear watching without owning, basically and being a season-long hold (unlike Murray who goes over Origin) should help long-term.

This did hold, except for Haas over Murray.

A = Hunt
B = Kiraz
C = Papenhuyzen
D = Rapana
E = Smithies
F = Chan
G = Salmon
H = Kini
I = Strange
J = SHughes
K & L in between Cotric, Levi and Mikaele

Luki, Elliott and Taumalolo are bubbling under. May do something around Kiraz or Smithies to include one of them instead.
