I'm gonna disagree. The union rules are ridiculous. As a defender, you're just meant to watch the pass sail past you for a line break and not try and stop it. It's part of being a defender. Attacking team gets the ball back. No way it should be a yellow card like union.

Doesn't make sense, u do whatever u can to stop the try and linebreak.. why on earth should that ever be a penalty.

I think the union rules are too harsh when a player is legitimately trying to intercept. If you just knock down a ball without trying at all to catch it, and that ball would have been caught and a try scored, then how can that not be either a penalty try or a yellow card. Not really any different to tackling a player without the ball to stop a try

Raiders player wasn't attempting to catch it at all. In that instance it should be a penalty, not just a play the ball
