I mean Pat with no Haas is great of course but with only 5 rounds left an extra game for Tapine is quite the factor. Seems far less susceptible to Ricky shenanigans this year too with only 2 sub 50min games all season.
yeah I would rate Tapine over Carrigan for the run home.... but there's is every chance for Sticky to mess things up

Seriously though, taking a more conservative approach the last couple of weeks and holding off on upgrades to save the trades has bitten me on the ass and affected my BL inspired charge and have gone backwards slightly with ranks. Even still don't like trading 2 green dots with four trades left but gotta be done. Was even second guessing again with that shit Koala score but gotta put your faith in the fantasy gods at times.

Ive ended up with too many ctrs in my squad and can play Wighton and Kiraz as my 2 starters. Tempted to turn Iro into Ponga and hope Ponga goes on a hot streak or trade to someone boring but reliable like an 80 min Starling

How the hell do some of you still have 7 trades left at this point of the season?!?! I mean yea I am a bit of a trade-oholic, but this year most of my trades have been on the never ending injury count, so cant say I've just wasted them all!

Telling us as helpful info re an injured fantasy player, or to add to the list you seem to bring up every week excusing the lackluster Rabbitohs?
Genuinely intrigued

Helpful info that he might be ginger next week. Copped a head knock too late but think it was cat 2. Hornby said they’ll monitor him. For his size Jye has lots of courage he’s my size.ShadowSabre wrote:

I've been quite lucky with injuries and probably just a bit conservative at times like I said.

The poll was even when I bumped it (I'd actually traded Tapine in already as he had a 1 vote lead when I first checked), and from that point on everyone voted Carrigan and I had to reverse course.

4 trades remaining, if this season is anything to judge by, expect them all to be spent replacing injured players.

Some people have bene unlucky with injury this year and forced into mass trading that's just bad luck and little can be done about it.
But others have been too trigger happy ditching guys after 1 bad score, or bringing guys in with poor job security after they get 1 or 2 good scores in a row.

Tapine v Carrigan probably comes down to how strong your R24 bye replacement player is, and also how confident you are other shit won’t happen that leaves you playing your 20th/21st/nobody as a replacement instead.
Pat is probably 60 average with no Haas, Tapine 55, so you might only need 35-40 in that R24 replacement to back Pat in a pure EV scenario

I had five left coming into this week which is probably about par for what I like to have at this end of the season.
Got smashed with injuries early doors (like everyone) which meant I didn’t go as hard over the byes and held ‘keepers’ through the Origin period when I may have sold to buy back in previous seasons and definitely no sideways stuff for points.
As Wolfy said the price to pay is that you put yourself at a disadvantage by not pouncing on fallen guns or mid season cashiers as quickly as you might usually. I generally come home with a wet sail but this season that starts from rank 3k rather than inside the top 1k so no top 100 dreams left for me.
I’ve sort of enjoyed the challenge of trying to salvage a train wreck season and probably learned some new lessons after 15 years of playing this silly game.

I usually end up with the same amount of trades by now - either going good and going hard at byes and post Origin, or going shit with injuries and bad picks and trying to fix it. The difference for me is normally I’d blow the last 3-6 on upgrades ASAP whereas now I’m conserving them because spooked by R27 carnage and playing with 12 in the last week is not fun . Will only know in hindsight which strategy was optimal.
I will say despite all the injuries and shitty team value compared to last year, the team doesn’t actually feel that much worse on paper at this end stage
