New to fantasy this year and I’ve come second in our H2H league, it’s saying round 24 grand final between me and the guy who came first. But on the fixtures list there’s also a game between the people who came 3rd and 4th. Does anyone know if there’s usually a playoff for 3rd place or something? I’m hoping it doesn’t mean this week is actually the semi final

Mahoney is a pain, don't love the idea of him "managing" his shoulder for the next 4 weeks. Only two trades though and can't even afford a proper gun WFB with him now he's dropped so much value.

Hey lads, in a H2H semi this week. Was just wondering if Koloamatangi is a sell? Haven't been able to catch the recent souffs games so not too sure about the rotations and what not but from face value it seems like Murray's return has negatively impacted him (as I expected to be fair).
Anything helps, cheers.

I'm fairly certainly Random has beat me in the Mod League every single time this year. Annoyingly I beat everyone else with my score this week except him. The systemic system and its attempts at trying to hold this great man down knows no bounds.
The Mod God is going to have to do it the hard way.

Mean my draft team mate. My regular team certainly has had its shitto weeks too. Don't worry, you've gotten a couple of down weeks out of the way, you'll charge home.

Should be like NRL finals I think. Winners of 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd get a bye to final 4, losers play the winners of 5 vs 8 and 6 vs 7. Bottom two losers eliminated.
The way finals are named never makes sense to me though. Semi finals should be final 4 imo, playing for a place in the grand final, but for some reason they call that the preliminary final or something? and semi finals are the week before, which I'd call quarter finals.

Yeah the naming makes no sense. The first week being qualifying/elimination makes enough sense, but then I'd switch prelim and semi finals around the other way. Week two is the most confusing to name because it's not a quarter final or a semi final when it's just two games but not the last before the final. Maybe penultimate semi final, yeah that's not confusing at all
I agree that the naming of the playoff games is a bit illogical, but neither logic nor a sense of history/tradition are strong points with the NRL.
- Only read this if you have an interest in NRL history:
Prior to 1954, there were 4 teams in the finals, with 2 knock-out semi-finals, and a Final. If the Minor Premier DIDN'T win the Final, then they would challenge the winner of the Final in a Grand Final. The games were called:
Round 1 (final 4 teams = Semi-Finals)
1st Semi-Final (1 v 3 or 1 v 4) - loser eliminated
2nd Semi-Final 2 (2 v 4 or 2 v 3) - loser eliminated
Round 2 (final 2 teams = Final)
Final (1 v 2)
Round 3 (only played if MP didn't win Final)
Grand Final (MP v Final winner)
***
From 1955-72, there were 4 teams, with MP and team #2 having a 2nd chance, and a mandatory GF). The games were called:
Round 1 (final 4 teams = Semi-Finals)
Major Semi-Final (1 v 2) - winner to GF
Minor Semi-Final (3 v 4) - loser eliminated
Round 2
Preliminary Final (2 v 3) - loser eliminated
Round 3 (final 2 teams = Final or GF)
Grand Final (1 v 2)
***
From 1973-94, there were 5 teams, with teams #4 and #5 the only teams to not get a 2nd chance. The games were called:
Round 1 (5 teams remaining = NOT Semi-Finals)
Major Preliminary Semi-Final (2 v 3)
Minor Preliminary Semi-Final (4 v 5) - loser eliminated
Round 2 (final 4 teams = Semi-Finals)
Major Semi-Final (1 v 2)
Minor Semi-Final (3 v 4) - loser eliminated
Round 3
Preliminary Final (2 v 3) - loser eliminated
Round 4 (final 2 teams)
Grand Final (1 v 2)
***
The current 8-team system has been used since 2012. The games are currently called:
Round 1
1st Qualifying Final (1 v 4)
2nd Qualifying Final (2 v 3)
1st Elimination Final (5 v - loser eliminated
2nd Elimination Final (6 v 7) - loser eliminated
Round 2
1st Semi-Final (4 v 5) - loser eliminated
2nd Semi-Final (3 v 6) - loser eliminated
Round 3
1st Preliminary Final (1 v 3) - loser eliminated
2nd Preliminary Final (2 v 4) - loser eliminated
Round 4
Grand Final (1 v 2)
***
Traditionally, 8 teams play in quarter-finals, and 4 teams play in semi-finals, so using a combination of logic and NRL history, the games COULD be called:
Round 1 (final 8 teams = Quarter-Finals)
1st Qualifying Quarter-Final (1 v 4)
2nd Qualifying Quarter-Final (2 v 3)
1st Elimination Quarter-Final (5 v - loser eliminated
2nd Elimination Quarter-Final (6 v 7) - loser eliminated
Round 2 (6 teams remaining = NOT Semi-Finals)
1st Preliminary Semi-Final (4 v 5) - loser eliminated
2nd Preliminary Semi-Final 2 (3 v 6) - loser eliminated
Round 3 (final 4 teams = Semi-Finals)
1st Semi-Final (1 v 3) - loser eliminated
2nd Semi-Final (2 v 4) - loser eliminated
Round 4 (final 2 teams = Final or GF)
Grand Final (1 v 2)
NB: It's actually more a Final than a Grand Final, but the Grand Final name has been used in every season since the mandatory GF was introduced 1954, so that's a tradition that should be kept.

Kolo is the big question mark for me this week. Particularly with Plath firing again. Surely Kk doesn’t score <30 again but 60’s might be an ask from 55 mins.
Any reason for their minutes to change going forwards?

Played the same minutes the week before for a score of 54. I'm giving him one more week.

Hey less than 10 points between it. I'll likely see you or Milchy in the finals if I make it that far. Although Easy Tiger wasn't far off either and any week who knows what could happen. Especially towards the back end of the season with people being rested.

Just read what it says at the headers. If your GF is this week than it's just a play off for 3rd.

Injuries, HIAs, suspensions and extremely bad luck have fucked me royally up the blurter this year. Absolutely nothing to do with my selections. Nothing.
No trades left. I'm backing a top 5,000, injuries or not. I'm already fucked in the 2nd row, but I'll slip past a few newbies in the run home for sure.
The bonus is I've flogged Matt and Flipper no matter what happens. That's the main thing. I should probably flog young Rabs as well as a bonus. lol.
Here's the Gumbies. I'm stuck with them now and they better perform if they know what's good for them. I know thugs.....bikies and Rabbits21.
Cook, Grant, Smith
AFB, Randall, Plath, May
Fifita, Howarth lol, Sorenson (dead)
Cleary, Hughes, Burton, Hands
Iro, Wighton, Cobbo
HTF, Campbell, Gray, Sharpe
STAND AND APPLAUD. GO YOU ALMIGHTY GUMBIES!

Not very bright from Trell ah well will cop a suspension and fine I guess. He’s a role model to young kids too was doing community work too as he does but yes they look up to him and then they’ll see this….. he needs to be more careful and take a hard look at himself and situations he puts himself into.
Welcome Aitken too stoked with this signing. It’s an upgrade on Host and Cheeks.

Mate these sorts of incidents are the perfect example of why league players should never be considered 'Role Models' to young kids.
This is the problem we have in society now, celebrity and sports persons have replaced real role models and they are not equipped to wear that Moniker.
Its why they get dragged through the media for their mistakes, but shouldnt. They play a sport really well and all of a sudden held to a higher standard than everyone else.
I for one wont be using an NRL player as the standard my kids should look at for anything other than athletic performance. Everything else they do is none of my business.
It boggles the mind that they do this crap when they are on such high salaries and are risking all of that, but obviously they dont think too far ahead, so again should not ever be considered a role model.
