I wonder if Hughes being in Dally M contention will change the coaches mind about resting him.

It's Bellamy and Hughes has been in the Storm system long enough he'd put his hand up to rest and sacrifice a Dally M to win a premiership. Say what you will about the scummy Storm but their players buy into the club mantra.

I think Bellamy cost Slater or someone the Dally M by resting him one year.
I'd like to go Cleary and probably Samuela to Preston and Haumole, but just leaves DBrown and Wighton as halves for Rd 26 with Galvin out, so should probably buy a half.
JHughes would be my pick, but pretty high chance he's rested. DCE still has boom games in him, 4th highest average outside my team and owning for the run home was good last year. Foggy right there on averages, but might be carrying a niggle. Plath or Campbell not far behind, but would rather someone with a decent kicking base.
Probably end up with DCE.

Yeah this, on the Channel 9 commentary last night Cam Smith was (in a very obtuse, roundabout manner) indicating that, given the next two games are away in QLD there would be some opportunity to 'refresh' players. He was reasonably specific about Grant getting a rest

With just 3 weeks left, there's plenty of opportunity to gamble on some guy you wouldn't normally consider and just hope they go big in the last ew weeks if they have a temporary boost to their role.
eg if Liam Martin was out for longer, Lindsay Smith/Liam Henry would be a good punt. Or just pick a back with a good fixture list and hope they bag some tries

He's gong to be getting 100% of the kicking with Walsh out and Rogers playing 5/8....so about 80-100 metres more than average. Does love limping around the field looking like he's nearly dead though.

Feels like one that immediately shits the bed when you bring him in. Bit like Mahoney, I always skip over them when looking at HK or HLF. ".. or I could just buy someone decent"

if there's 1 position i'm flush in it's hlf so might just hold onto cleary if he's not out too long...cleary, hughes, s. walker, d. brown, galvin, campbell...even with hughes getting a rest i still can cover both cleary/hughes out

Yeah, I never really take him seriously either...only one real dog of a score since the early rounds. It's more next cab off the rank is DCE so Burton might be a bit of a zag.
Can just fill the HLF position with randoms from current team anyway so maybe Teddy is the go (although he might get a sit down as well)

Well, this is why you should save a couple of trades until the final round.
Oh well, it's a good thing I have S.Walker in the ressies.

Obviously decided to leave Meaney and McLean on the bench in draft as it would be a low scoring game and they wouldn't get many attacking opportunities, particularly McLean who saw a score in the 20s last week. Meaney only managed a 50 against a struggling bunnies side so no chance he goes higher against the Panthers, right?
Hope Sami and Sua'ali'i go better than their 54 and 49. :/
Sami averaging 50+ at centre, watch him score a miserly 15 or something now.

Cleary's 96 isn't a total disaster, have the armband on Fifi and not considering it a win by any stretch

Brooks would be the ultimate zag
Wish Matt had a trade so he could do that.

Penrith Panthers can provide an update on halfback Nathan Cleary, who sustained a shoulder injury during Thursday night’s match against the Storm.
Scans today confirmed that Nathan experienced a recurrence of the shoulder instability he had earlier in the year.
The scans indicate that he has avoided immediate surgery. The positive outcome is that the club plans to have Nathan available for the NRL Finals.
